Spies in Germany have captured pictures of the elusive 2012 Porsche 911 GT2 facelift.  The facelifted model is expected to debut next year, and will likely remain in production for about a year leading up to the release of the Porsche 991.

Alongside modest changes to the car's exterior, the GT2 is expected to get a direct injection engine boosting power to 550 PS (405 kW).  That is 3.5% more than the 997.5 Turbo S with 530 PS (390 kW).  By comparison, the Lexus LFA produces 552 hp (412 kW).  The GT2 could potentially have a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3.2 seconds, en route to a 205 mph (330 km/h) top speed.

A new bumper will be seen on the upcoming model, possibly including changes to the front splitter as well.  Possible updates to the sidesills will lead to a refined bumper with new tailpipes.  We wouldn't be surprised to see a few new options added to the catalogue for the GT2.

Still too retro and out-dated.

You have to know (like me ;) ) every aspect of a Porsche to appreciate a facelift. Let me dissect it for you. It has a wider front and rear track, a new splitter, new lights (front and rear), slightly newer interior, and a slight re-design of the area in which the tail-pipes are positioned. You see it as a small change, I see it as a major change. WCF, your claim of "3.7 seconds" to 60 is WAY OFF. The current GT2 can reach 60 in 3.3 seconds. I don't think it'd be slower. Probably about 3.1 with PDK.

Regardless of the time motor trend achieved of 3.3 to 60 mph, the official time to 100 km/h is 3.7, which was referenced in the story by mistake. Bad bad Zack. I conservatively upped the time to 3.2 since the Turbo S does it in 3.3 with heavy all wheel drive.

i am not talking about the look of the car i am talking about the car it self , this car is pointless they will introduce 991 in 2011 and this one 997.2 gt2 also in 2011 , that's what i meant by i don't get porsche anymore + i don't think they will fit a pdk ni this one because they didn't fit one in the gt3

they don't introduce all 911 models at once , it will take some time until the next turbo and then GT2 comes out. the GT2 is a limited production model anyway , they only produce each model for a short period of time.

the next generation (991) GT2 will arrive 2013 earliest , so what do mean with this car is pointless? it will be a monster of a car and as always marks the end of the current 997 generation as a limited edition.

finally the 997.5 GT2 is here. i wonder if it will have PDK or will still be exclusively manual.

My guess is that they will keep it raw and simpy offer it as a manual only. Just look at that beast!

Damn I want one!!! I think they'll option the PDK, I wouldn't order one with PDK but because it makes the car quicker they'd be silly not to offer it. Like to see it lap The Ring....

The 911s is a tad quicker 0-60 but on a track the gt2 rs porsche and ferrari 458 beat just about all super cars out there. This car has won many track championships than any car.

is this 998? shit, what's the difference as the 997? what the hell do the porsche designers do? they think nothing needs to be changed? there is no perfect design, only better design!
