Chevrolet Volt MPV Patent Designs Surface
Based on the Orlando
Several patent drawings have surfaced showing a Chevrolet Volt MPV.
While details are scare, the MPV, pictured above in a screenshot taken from a leaked video from last year, will likely be based on the Orlando (pictured next to it). It will feature Volt styling cues (grille, headlights, and taillights) and a shorter wheelbase. Inside, we can expect a Volt-derived interior with seating for four or five.
Power will likely be provided by a 120 kW (161 hp / 163 PS) electric motor and a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. Once the battery is depleted, a range-extending 1.4-liter petrol engine will kick in to provide additional power.
Look for a possible unveiling at the Beijing Motor Show.

What I dont understand is How come the VOLT isnt out for purchase yet, we have been hearing about it for years. If now is not the time for GM/chevrolet then when?

They've been pretty transparent about the development progress in a variety of venues. It's on target (see chevroletvoltage.com). It's too bad the Cadillac Converj didn't make the cut, but I'm glad GM is developing a vehicle with a little more utility than the four door hatch.

why why why?? why the Govt Motor still obsessed on MPV/ SUV/ Crossover??? "excessive" is still the habit of American? don't they learn yet? & the Volt is STILL not available to the markeet yet, no deatil spec yet...while Nissan is ALREADY have Leaf on the horizon, even thou it's ugly, but still, THEY MADE IT!

Yap I agree...Nissan Leaf is ugly, come to think of it, almost all the new Nissan Models which came out recently are ugly as hell. Except for the Nissan Skyline R34, Skyline R35, Silvia and the Nissan 240 SX which I personally think is a work of Automotive Poetry with a Bang.
Oh... Ya, I almost forgot, where is the Volt???

Govt Motor is awaiting payment due from Toyota, plus they're still working on the Volt in order to make it can go into the space so the shady-GM-robot R2 can pilot...
