From what I know the B-class is still coming to the US...

Sure I'm inclined to dislike anything that reminds me of a minivan, but if Mercedes insists on giving us an ugly vehicle it should be this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZRews1U1K4&feature=related Because there's good ugly and then there's bad ugly.

I do think that Mercedes-Benz has pretty much settled on selling the next-generation B-class in the USA, but it will likely be assembled at M-B's assembly line in Alabama, especially with M-B seriously considering dropping the R-series crossover.

I thought the new B-Class was to be a smaller version of the C-Class? Or is that only the AMG version?

The current B-Class is an excellet small family car. Marketing positioning in South Africa was a disaster though, positioning it as a hatchback in competition with Golf, AudiA3 and BMW 1 series... This influenced their marketing strategy so much that even the features that distinguished the B-Class making it stand out, without equal were not available even as options (e.g. integrated child seats). Looking at the proportions of this 2nd generation I think they are keeping to the same small MPV class, but the current model is certainly an MPV and not a hatchback (in the Golf tradition).
