Audi RS5 Confirmed for U.S. - rumors
Possible launch next year?
According to a recent report, Audi may bring the RS5 to the United States.
While details are limited, Automobile is reporting an unnamed source has told them an American launch is "increasingly likely." Despite being far from official, the possibility of an RS5 in the U.S. is tantalizing.
As you may recall, the Ingolstadt special features a 4.2-liter V8 with 331 kW (444 hp / 450 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the RS5 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph) - although Audi can remove the speed limiter to allow the car to hit 280 km/h (174 mph).
If the RS5 is destined for America, look for a possible a launch before summer 2011.

Audi needs a new designer...fast! Their cars look all the same...and that is just a shame.

That's bollocks, its called design philosophy and its apparent in any product line, do you think the new iPad looks too much like the iPhone? That said, I think Audi's really cracked it lately design wise, as most will agree.

@ Jeremiah Clarksonius , you should go on a hunger strike until Audi changes their design !

I think Audi's design is very smart . other brands try too hard and change looks every time , but Audi is original .

I think that the 4.6 is a conservative estimation; I would guess about 4.3 or so. But no 6spd?? I don't like that one bit.

how many times am I going to see this "sameness" comment. They looked even moreso in the past and they aren't the only company to do so.
@db - it's probably right. the gearing of VAG vehicles has never ingratiated their 0-60 stats.
April 5, 2010 8:05 pm
the cars weight and power show that the 0-60 is spot on accurate whether they ingratiated it or not.

The car has style with some of that rs attitude. Would hope to see that it can perform as well as it looks. 6sp and a turbo version would be nice along with the Rs steering wheel.

@JC you better go to hell and tray read more books :D

"although Audi can remove the speed limiter to allow the car to hit 280 km/h (174 mph)", So the actual top speed is 280 km only? That's a lot slower than M3 with out the limiter.
April 6, 2010 6:26 am
No, it just means that the limiter is tuned to 280 km/h instead of 250 km/h.

Damn WCF, this is one baaad rumor mill article! The title is confusing: is it confirmed or just a rumor!? The body of the article doesn't do anything to clarify that. Using a strong word like "confirmed" in the title and then writing using how it's "increasingly likely" is also confusing and very unprofessional.

sad to know its not reaching the u.s where its main competitors are, the muscle car trio - the stang, the camaro and the challenger. although ill pick the new stang gt. great car for what half the price of this thing?
i shall have the m3 in other parts of the world. jus sayin..
April 6, 2010 7:08 am
Great in what sense? If you mean it's power then sure the stang is great for it's price in comparison to the RS5, but that's where the comparison ends. If you MUST have a sports coupe and you only have enough $ then sure go for it, but i'd rather buy a 2006-07 M3 used for the price of a new Mustang GT.

Agreed. If Audi brings the RS5 to the U.S. there would be no point in owning an m3. In fact, the markets in which to own one would be those where an RS5 can't be had.
April 6, 2010 8:30 am
well they seem to have done a good job with the new 5.0l gt they just released. the a5 has never been a downright sports coupe. the s5 was seriously flawed and this rs5 seems to be more of a gt than a downright sports machine like the m3 which ill pick anyday, used or new. and audi knows very well their rs cars wouldn't do well against the m's and amg's in the u.s.
the r8 suceeded cause merc and bmw didnt have mid engine models to compete against it. if they had it would have been a diff story..
April 6, 2010 11:25 am
Wow. Such a hater. Go kick sand somewhere else while you're waiting for your next m3 post.
April 7, 2010 8:05 am
@michelin901 - And tell me sir, while Audi and Merc possess true, and great sports cars worthy of the moniker, what does bmw have? And don't tell me the m3 and m5 as they have plebian foundations. You also seem to allocate success based on pure lack of competition...a very strange way to look at the world.
April 7, 2010 8:29 am
lol, and how diff are you guys. arent we all fanboys here? i really doubt owners of m cars think they are driving plebeian machines. also bmw are losing out cus of the r8, they really should be workin on puttin a true supercar out there. i dont just diss audis. im sure theyre nice cars and good luck to em doin well. but i dont like the way they look and drive. its called opinion. you should look that up first

Personally, I would be shocked if they don't send it to NA. This car will carry a big stick for Audi wherever it goes so it makes sense to export it.
April 6, 2010 8:12 am
Of course they would bring it to the US, the US is the largest market for audi and the S5 and the RS4, RS6, R8. It would be idiotic if they didn't bring it.
April 6, 2010 8:18 am
this car is awesome!! everything that the m3 isnt! quattro, 4 seats, looks mean and will run rings around a c63 amg and even a m3.
the best sports coupe out there! FACT
