Oops

Last September, a Pagani Zonda S was crashed during a test drive near Aberdeen, UK.

While details are limited, the accident did £300,000 ($449,025 / €336,407) worth of damage to the £500,000+ ($748,582 / €560,679) car. Amazingly, the insurance company, Aviva, decided not to write it off as a total loss.

According to an Aviva spokesperson, "This is out of the ordinary for an insurer. Although the vehicle was badly damaged, Aviva decided that the car may be repairable and set about making arrangements for the car to be shipped across to Modena, Italy, home of Pagani, the vehicle manufacturer." The rep added, "This is the biggest insurance payout we have had for repairs to a private car in the UK."

[UPDATE]  The driver of the Zonda was none other than triple Formula 1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart.  Check out los Jalopagos for the full story.

No wonder they made special arrangements! Who'd want to see a dead Zonda? Well, Jackie Stewart, apparently...

Ah, oversteer. Looks like the earlier batch of Zondas, they're pretty much have more value than its original sticker price. I am a bit fan of the earlier Zondas.

Hard to think he lost control of it, he should have been going pretty damn fast or something.

this is good press for the insurance company , for a mere ?300,000 they get a lot of press and have their name associated with Jacky Stewart.
