Lexus LFA Race Car Close-Up Photos During N?rburgring Test

Spies in Germany caught photos of the Lexus LFA race car as it was being prepped at a Nürburgring paddock.  The Japanese automaker is testing the car before its use in the 24 Hours Nürburgring race being held in May.

Two different LFAs will be brought to that race.  The new photos show the car in great detail, from its massive mechanics underneath the hood, to the large rear diffuser blades that look capable of slicing through the mechanics working below.  Differences on the race vehicle also include new panels, wider stance, and larger air intakes.

These spy pics are in addition to the official photos that were distributed last week.  Fans of the car hope the finished Lexus LFA, and its 552-horsepower (412-kW / 560-PS) V10 engine, will outperform earlier versions of the car.

I really hate this car. I saw it life in Detroit. They had a good thing going on then they started screwing it with those stupid fenders/bumpers/air intakes. Ugly car. After all, all Lexus cars are ugly

it doesn't have to be pretty, cause it rides like hell!!! Form follow function, can you accept that?

@Kimbo Your argument is stupid. Are you admitting that the Lexus is ugly but because it performs well its ugliness is excused? You could have both, good form and function. A trade-off is not necessary, other super-cars have been doing it for a long time. In my opinion this race car version fits better on the track than the stock version on the street.

BarvarianMS, do you happen to know what key principle BMW follows? Yep its" form follows function". You clearly don't understand kimbo's argument. First of all, looks are a subjective matter. I happen to think it's a very good looking car. Kimbo never said that there had to be a trade-off. The LF-A serves its purpose well so no argument there. Lambocop, if you've read a single review of the LF-A, you'll know that it in fact drives like hell.

yeah bavarian, I know, BMW has better looking, faster and cheaper supercar... NOT hahha This car is scary fast, on TG track it was 4 sec faster than a Gallardo on wet track, despite being 2 wheel drive vs gallardo's awd. That's massive! The engineering level behind this car is amaazing. Actually it costs more to produce LFA than it's regular price. And you know what? I don't care how it looks. Maybe it's not pretty, but it has some japanese style that I quite like. I love it's performance, sound, handling and technology, I don't care how it looks, coz it's an awesome piece of machinery!

FYI, the Gallardo is several years old already and is hardly something to benchmark against at this point since its towards the end of its lifecycle. Also, it is far cheaper. And BMW don't have a competitor in this segment, YET. However, Ferrari do (F458 Italia), and it's cheaper, lighter, faster, and more advanced (and looks better, IMO). Also, being more expensive to produce than what it sells for is hardly something to be proud of. It actually sounds like nothing more than a marketing exercise because Lexus believes it has something to prove. That having been said, I like this car for what it is, it is different and sounds awesome.

At 375k US this would have to be compared to the 458 Scuderia not even a normal 458 since it's about 135,000$ less than the LF-A.

benz SLS 270.000$, LFA 375.000$. you're stupid.

@alex_w115: benz SLR 722 price: 800 000& benz CLK-GTR price: 1 500 000& benz SL65 AMG Black Series price: 400 000& so who is stupid? and when you are mention the price of LF-A I can tell you that this is the only Lexus priced beyonde 200 000&...all others are less than 100 000$!!! But you have a numerous Mercedes's which are pretty above the 100K and 200K range!

Yeah, and here in europe you see al Merc's and Beemers as taxi's, but i never see a Lexus taxi, so i can't agree with you

I don't know where you guys are getting your prices, but other than the LFA's price which is US you are giving random prices or prices based from auctions. The SL65 BS is not 400,000$ more like 290k with taxes, the 722 is nowhere near 800k considering the roadster brand new is 495k. The GTR is 1.5mil at an auction because there are only 10 or so left...The 458 Italia is 240k US which is a whopping 135k less...I'm sorry but you can't choose a US price for the LF-A and then choose prices from other countries or auctions to compare...There are 1920s Bugatti models that have auctioned for 7-8 million euro.

Swifty, we're talking 250.000E+ cars here, therefore the "poor man" comment was stupid. Granted: if we compare Lexus models to an equivalent benz in europe, Lexus is 5 to 10% cheaper. But let's rather call this value for money shall we.

You said it... "Here in Europe"... You can get Euro cars with minimal options and a small engine e.g. S280, whereas most Lexus?s come fully loaded as a standard package such as the LS460... Have you ever seen an LS280 ??. Besides, just like Euro luxury cars are marked up in price in Japan, don't you think the Japanese will do the same?!? Finally, in a 20 car pile-up on the Autobahn I?d rather be in a Merc or BMW ;)
