Tuner comes up with artificial whale skin vinyl for interior finish as substitute

Last November, Russian tuner Dartz caused quite a stir when they announced they would be finishing the interior of the Dartz Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition SUV with whale penis leather. Yes, that's right, leather made out of the hide from a whale penis.

But after a campaign by animal-rights activist Pamela Anderson and Greenpeace, the company had to junk its plans. Now, they have come up with an artificial substitute.

Dartz is back with a Porsche 911 fitted with whale skin vinyl - an artificial material made to replicate the feel of whale skin. The new vinyl finish will also feature a "save the whales" logo, to be sure that the interior comes with the right message.

Customers can order the whale skin vinyl finish through Dartz's French branch Dartz France (www.dartz.fr).

Dartz also promises the newly revised (whale skin-free) Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition will be debuting at the Top Marques Monaco 2010 event which takes place next month (April 15-18).

LoL you actually sit on a pillow/pad that is encased in leather, just because between the bottom and back part they arent attached and the carpet is there, you don't actually sit on carpet. For a car with that length it's either small leather pillows or no back seats at all. What seats does the corvette have?

You know you've arrived at an especially low point in your life when it becomes your responsibility to acquire the skin from a whale's penis. How exactly do you begin the process? Dinner and a movie? I can't imagine the mess involved when performing the procedure on a sperm whale. To say that you'll need to wear a 'raincoat' is quite an understatement.

Interesting...I don't know maybe whale penis skin used to be cool at some point in time in our weird human history, but i think that in 2010 we should be a little bit more intelligent. Well i hope, i mean do you really have to kill a 100 year old endangered animal for its penis skin to use it for leather. I mean if it cured cancer, then sure.
