Hot Alfa Romeo Giulietta GTA in Development - report
Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde live in Geneva 03.03.2010

Giulietta GTA may come with Fiat's 1.8 liter turbo with 235 bhp

Fiat is developing a GTA version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

At the Geneva auto show earlier this month, Fiat premiered two Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde with the same specs as this new performance version, which may come to be called the GTA or keep its Quadrifoglio Verde (Four-leaf Clover) moniker.

The cars featured at Geneva came fitted with Fiat's MultiAir 1.8 liter (1750 cc) turbocharged gasoline/petrol engine tuned to 235 PS (175 kW / 232 bhp). The new Giulietta GTA may come with that power plant (or a slight variation on it) as well as with Fiat's new dual-clutch transmission due to be released next month.

The new Giulietta GTA will also likely use a new version of Alfa Romeo's Q2 electronic differential and come with new active dampers for improved performance.

Fiat will also be revamping the 500 for a US market release later this year. The US market 500 will be built in Mexico and will feature a modified platform to make the car lighter, quieter and have a softer ride. The changes won't make it to the European 500, though.

Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. That is the best name for a hatchback ever, even thought I dunno how to pronounce it. :P

I hope they dont brand this a GTA. The last GTA hatch had 250bhp and had a great V6. having a tiny turbocharged engine with only 235bhp is a farce for a GTA model and i hope they are going to develop a proper GTA!

The GTA name goes back a lot further than the last 147. Alfas are not just about creamy V6s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_GTA
