Maybe one should compare power and torq to E60 V10, not E39 V8. From 500hp to 585hp isn?t 30% hike.

Yes, the increase in horsepower is not really 30%. But the torque spike from the E60 to this is huge. 383 ft-lbs to 531. Will be interesting to see how BMW changes their game from really high revving hp figures to torque turbo monsters.

I wonder where this war on the horsepower will go. In 2020 an M5 will have 1000 hp.:)

I don't think BMW has ever tried participating in the war for horsepower. I think lots of cars have over-killed horsepower and lack technology to back it up. So its becoming a war for Efficiency and power of cars now. Newer cars not only should get more HP with every new model but increase fuel economy and reduce emissions at the same time.

If Mercedes-Benz can tirelessly produce an AMG 63 E-Class Estate alongside the E-Class saloon, BMW can do likewise.....
