I hope VW produces a more serious beetle that could compete with the mini and pays better respect to the design of the original beetle. The current beetle always looked like it belongs in a cartoon.

fully agree, the "new Beetle" was a horrible interpretation of the original. Oh, and the interior. Please Audi, give them a hand here.

@TheAlchemist & CDSpeed: I agree too, the plastic interior of my sister's Beetle kinda reacted when I applied some legit car care products, and it smells horrible now. Plus the interior is so boring.

Hybrid twincharger for the win. Do it VW. Make the most complicated mess possible for an everyday car which will subsequently fail and cost owners thousands yet only be addressed as a TSB. DOOOoooo EEEeeet.

Can't wait to see it. The US five cylinder should produce at least 210hp in my opinion.

The (now ex) New Beetle is just fine vehicle, maybe need some exterior restyling, but the whole concept works just fine. Especially interior, such a great fun to drive. My new Scirocco is boring, compared with NB. I have 1960 Beetle, too.

I am having a really hard time understanding why the U.S. market would get a 2.5L with 170bhp when the Euros will get a 2.0L with 210bhp. WTF.

Excellent idea with the hybrid, a 1.4 hybrid would be the ideal combination, bring back flower power!
