This car looks like it is gonna be a good car, but why did BMW make a car, which on the face of it, makes their 5 series GT seem pointless.

I think the 5GT is meant to be a (ugly) crossover. But I have never really seen the point of the 5GT anyway.

And the best thing is... there will be a 3GT too!
Topic: Great car... i think it will be a hard competitor for the Merc E T-Model!

the 5GT is a niche car , meant for a very specific demographic, too bad it's ugly.

It does look pretty good to me
the perfect getaway family car
look, the kids are hugging daddy, they're packing luggage and a kiddies bicycle in case the car got caught and the kids need to runaway on their bikes, the dad is pressing buttons to close the tailgate to save 0.1 seconds and they quickly drive away in a 520d
btw, it can fit a 3 Series Cabriolet in its boot. WOW?!?

Boy, a diesel station wagon...I looove that combination...gosh, just look at those torque figures and gas mileage that are making me drool. Of course, good things like this will never make its way to this side of the ocean. Lots of station wagons such as the C63AMG wagon don't make it here. Here in the US, we are probably getting only the petrol models, since most people here seem to have a diesel phobia. I guess a similar diesel 3-series wagon with good reliability will also work for me. Diesel is the way to go. Forget about all these stupid hybrids.

Good work BMW, this is probably the best-looking station wagon around.

I've got an '08 535xiT and have to say it's a great car (except issues with the high pressure fuel pump and niggling electronic problems). This model looks a little blander, but will wait to see it in person. It looks evolutionary with some progress but can't see giving up my existing car for the differences. Living in North America, I hope they continue to bring the "Touring" across, but really wish BMW would stop confounding potential purchases by limiting what options are available. I would love to try the diesel, or better yet, the M5 touring. I've heard that the Touring might not be coming as BMW's NA marketing is concentrating on the 5GT and X5/X6 disasters - wish they would pull their heads out of the sand! Other manufacturers are coming back to wagons (Honda/Acura), and BMW seems to want to go the route of SUVs and, dare I say, minivans.

i have to admit it...this is one of the best looking wagon in the market. but, what's the point of the 5-series GT existence? just like X5 & X6, why X6?? yes, there will be some customer like it, but definitely not much...so, why?

Nice, but bland and boring... BMW's are really starting to become a bit of a bore...

I really dislike the new corporate BMW hood. Bangle is gone (he wasn't when this was actually designed) and the "let's see how many surfaces we can stamp into one body panel" design mantra needs to be gone, too. Sad to have the one of the top two or three engines in the worlds entrapped under this gimmick of styling excess.

Well done BMW !!! This car is one of the best looking station wagon of this days! I just love it and i think it will be a real succes !

Me, too! It's the first time ever I find a station wagon good-looking.

Finally Germans get a sense of elegance. This Touring looks great. As much as I like BMWs, but I'll have the E-Class Estate, that has a larger loadspace and a third row of seats for childrens.
