Why is the droptop coming out so much later? Surely a roof chop and some chassis strengthening doesn't take a year?

The last i saw of that model it was a green with writing on the car side being taken away for scrap on a back of a truck. Anyone remember that
Glad it is coming out now and i would think a convertible has more work to it after the coupe was made in the way of body roll and head rests safety pop up
