Lexus CT 200h World Premiere at Geneva Motor Show [Video]

Building on the Prius legend

Lexus has officially unveiled the CT 200h in Geneva.

Based on the LF-Ch concept, which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the CT 200h was "designed and developed with the European market in mind." The five-door hatchback features Lexus' L-finesse design philosophy, LED daytime running lights, and a wraparound rear window. Inside, the car has an asymmetrical dashboard, metallic accents, and an eight-inch LCD screen.

Under the hood, power comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine and a magnet synchronous electric motor. While the company declined to release performance data, they stated the front-wheel drive CT 200h has four selectable drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and EV. The latter turns the car into a full electric-vehicle at speeds up to 28 mph for up to 1.2 miles.

The CT 200h will enter production in late 2010, with global sales starting shortly thereafter.

You can either see it as a luxury Auris/Impreza or a smaller IS. Whatever it is, I don't think that idea is a very good one...

That rear still does not work even in the flesh. It's slightly less nauseating but it's still looks like they let an intern use photoshop to design the rear by C&P'ing from other cars on the market. If lexus wanted to design a hatch that looked like the their entry level sedan then they should have taken a leaf out of Volvo's book with the C30 and just used a ruled to chop off everything past a certain point. I would rather own a Great Wall Motor's car than one of these. At least Great Wall has fresher styling.
