Hybrid system features two electric motors each with 204 bhp (152 kW) and up to 400 Nm

The Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid has made its world debut at the Geneva auto show today.

The Evora 414E Hybrid is a full hybrid vehicle meant for performance. It's twin electric motors each produce a whopping 204 bhp (152 kW / 207 PS) and up to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. That makes the Evora's 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint come in at under 4 seconds.

Part of the hybrid set-up is also a modest 47 bhp (35 kW) 1.2 liter three-cylinder Lotus Range Extender engine, designed to recharge the batteries and provide an extended range. That range is about 480 km (300 miles). The Evora 414E Hybrid has a range of 56 km (35 miles) running on a fully-charged battery pack alone.

The Evora 414E Hybrid features a 7-speed transmission and two drive settings - Eco and Sport. The car comes in a copper color, intended to evoke its electronic theme. Copper color is also used in the instrument panel, seat covers and brake calipers. The interior cabin also features a leather and Alcantara finish.

One of the most distiguishing features of the Evora 414E Hybrid is the HALOsonic sound system, which artificially generates the sounds of a gasoline/petrol engine and emits them from speakers at the front and rear of the car. This function is so that pedestrians can hear the car coming down the road (for electric vehicles are rather quiet) and, apparently, provides for a better driver experience.

The color looks delicious on the Evora's body.. although Lotus' cars even without the "eco" mods are quite economical... they I believe don't need these upgrades... but still it shows that they are healthy...

I like this route for a hybrid system, where the engine is strictly used to recharge the batteries. Theoretically one could get away with using a much smaller, lighter engine in a setup like this.

I like how the Hybrid version of the car is as fast as the car should have been from the get-go.

I don't understand why the three-cylinder engine is refered to as a range extender? A gas engine is used as a "range extender" in plug-in hybrids, but supposedly this isn't. Aside from that I love it.
