Honda CR-Z Hybrid Coupe Receives MUGEN Styling Treatment

Honda CR-Z Hybrid Coupe Receives MUGEN Styling Treatment
Honda CR-Z Hybrid with MUGEN Styling Accessories - 1280 - 26.02.2010

The Honda CR-Z hybrid coupe is getting cosmetic and aerodynamic treatment from Honda's in-house tuner. Mugen will install kit such as front aprons, a new front grille with LED daytime running lights, a large roof-mounted wing and side skirts. A rear diffuser forms part of the package.  Although a contradiction in terms for a vehicle intended to be economical, performance-improving parts have yet to be fitted to the powerplant.

Other equipment includes a sport exhaust system, air filters and a sport suspension system. Customers will have a choice of different-looking 17-inch alloy wheels to pick from.

The interior is dressed up with items like unique gear lever knobs and floor mats, additional gauges, and a carbon fibre mirror.

Hopefully at some point a high-performance "R" model will be developed from this sophisticated hybrid system. At the moment the car's 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 84kW (114 PS) at 6,000rpm and peak torque is 145Nm (107 lb-ft) at 4,800rpm while the electric motor gives out 10kW (14 PS) at 1,500rpm and 78Nm (58 lb-ft) at 1,000 rpm according to a brochure leaked last December.

Is that wing supposed to be an extension of a male genitalia? Why such exaggeration?

hey Honda, don't be too aggressive these days... be low profile please, otherwise, you'll be the next Toyota... the U.S. Govt will team up with media to dig out or make-up some small problem of your vehicle, then debut as biggest news or events, so the biggest industry of USA: auto industry, will be protected & benefit! beware!!

- That "some small problem" killed people, killed families and children. I would not call that a small problem. When you take your own sweet time to fix problems and try to cover up issues, i would not call that a small problem. Toyota screwed up big time, its simple as that. And when peoples lives are on the line- It must not be taken lightly.

Calm down, hata. Yes some people died and others didn't. I'm more than sure one incident happened on a freeway and the driver must have tried to exit and didn't. Calm down. Learn proper english too; it goes a long way so I don't have to decipher your message either.

I don't really think that spoiler is necessary, and is only some rice, but the rest is OK job. Just waiting for someone (or me) having an K20 lying around in their garage and utilize it with the hybrid system. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

That bodykit looks lovely, really does give car an aggresive look. Now how about releasing some engine mods, Mugen?

I'm not too keen on the 3 LEDs either side of the license plate, or that visibility-killing spoiler, and that exhaust is probably supposed to look like the triangular Civic, but instead looks like an imitation of Mazda's rotary piston (a la RX models). I would consider the lightweight alloy wheels and bodykit for my imaginary CR-Z... along with an ENGINE MOD! Even just a sports air filter/exhaust, anything Mugen... We know you're capable of increasing power - look at the UK Civic R Mugen!
