I don't know with that face-cover, the front looks way too generic. I really like the new C Class, hope they don't ruin it.

they need new engines more than a facelift, that 3.5 V6 is a dog now compared with the competition. if i'm not mistaken, the 335i makes at least 300 bhp correct? the merc is outgunned there. they need to introduce a new v6 with at least 315-325 horses.

I TOTALLY agree with you. The 6 cylinder Mercedes engines pale in both refinement and performance when compared to similar engines from other manufacturers. This would be my single largest reason for skipping over this otherwise desirable model. I will not be truly impressed until M-B can deliver world class power-plants for this segment. I've not been impressed with the sound or feel of the 3.5 ltr v6 in use.

Merc offers the 3.5 with DI in europe and it makes 300HP. Supposedly, US gas quality is/was too poor for the lean-burn modes of their DI strategy. However, BMW said the same thing in 2003 when they first offered the 760 V12 with DI and deleted the lean-burn modes from its ECUs, but then turned around and introduced the N54. Its been years now, and I suppose they're just going to bring in a new engine family with the "new" products instead of try and upgrade the now defunct 3.5L. Merc was ahead of the game at the start of this century with the modular M112/M113 SOHC engines. Then, Nissan crashed the party with its High-Output VQ's that "breath" so efficiently they can spit out 300HP. Before everyone knew it, 300HP was the V6 standard and 200HP was a "strong 4-banger". Give them time to catch up. The 5.5L is still best in class (although it drinks like a fish). BMWs twin-turbo 8 is much stronger, but at the expense of linear power delivery. BMWs turbo motors won't trump a naturally aspirated motor's linear throttling until they can find a cheap (enough) supplier of gasoline VGTs. The N54 is d*** close though!

merc is always a step behind in engine performance wise..not only the 3.5 ltr v6 but also the 5.5 ltr v8 ...they need to introduce high tech turbos engine to their line up ... besides that there is nothing wrong with the merc .. i love merc

agree on the 3,5L V6, disagree on the 5,5L V8 - audi right now gets a new V8 engine in the new A8 that is still less powerful than M-B's by 15hp. BMW's new V8 twin-turbo is still new - i agree it's better than M-B's. all Merc has to do is put a turbo or two to their 5,5L V8 and sell it as a 450hp S500/E500/CLS500 etc and as a 550-600hp S/E/CLS etc AMGs. the V12s - there are not worth it any more. the V6 engines as well as the 4-cyl ones - M-B is really stepping down on the game, BMW and Audi are goin strong there. :?

I dont know what it is, but the general shape of that new bumper makes it look really really bland

Most of the recent MB's look pretty pedestrian without the body kit that comes with the Sports Package. Definitely agree with the statements above regarding the need for an engine upgrade more than anything else! The V6's in the Audi's and the in-line 6 in the BMW's are more pleasing to drive... Although both the BMW in-line 6 and the Audi V6 seems to be more prone to reliability issues...atleast from my personal experience and experience of people that I know. How about sticking in that turbo-charged 4 cylinder in the E250 to replace the 2.5L V6 to start-off with and maybe bringing back a detuned version of the supercharged V6 that used to power the C32!

Are you guys high? The bumper is covered up. How can you say it is bland when you can't see it?

Like when Mercedes upped the 5.0 V8 with ~300HP to the 5.5 with 382HP, I'm sure they'll step up the game and come out with an ass-kicking V6. The current 3.5 is just weak. They could probably do with a smaller output+forced induction engine although I do like the power delivery of the current V6s. Just wish they had more grunt.

Mercedes Benz is working on new engines and they are going with smaller displacement turbo charged engines in the future. Be patient its coming. Let's not forget the 335i generates 300hp with the use of turbo's. The same 3.5 litre V6 used in the C Class makes 300hp N/A in the SLK 350. I was told they didn't bother doing this to the C Class because of the new engines that Mercedes are working on. When I was at the AMG plant they briefly mentioned a 5.5 litre V8 twin turbo that is most likely going to replace the 6.2.
