Fernando Alonso pleaded ignorance on Thursday when asked about an erupting controversy between Felipe Massa and the Spanish press.

Brazilian Massa, who is Ferrari newcomer Alonso's 2010 teammate, was quoted in an interview this week as saying the Spaniard should work to better integrate with the Maranello based team.

The 28-year-old was also quoted as saying that Alonso is no longer F1's best driver, due to the return of Michael Schumacher.

In response, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo hit back at Massa in a headline: "Por que no te callas?" (Why don't you shut up?").

The newspaper said Massa is pushing hard against Alonso because he "does not want to go back to being a number two".

"I don't even know what we're talking about," Alonso said at Thursday's Jerez testing.

"Imagine how much we worry about these things here in our team! I felt immediately at ease here in Ferrari and I've been warmly welcomed by everyone. It's like being at home," he insisted.

Damn, and I was starting to like Alonso again... Ferrari REALLY doesn't need this commotion this year!

The problem is not with Alonso, its Massa, he is like germ sitting on any driver. They should have kept Kimi this year along side with Alonso & throw out Massa since he talks too much.

Seems like Massa is taking over where Barrichello left off in the whining department. It's better to just shut the heck up and get on with driving, but seems politics plays a big part of Massa's repertoire. And I'm sorry to say that I doubt Kimi's heart is still in F1. No doubt he has the speed, but he seems more interested in WRC these days.

Yeah, Kimi loves the rallying now, but I bet that if Ferrari had let him enter a few events as they had previously, he would've stayed in F1 throughout his contract at least. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Ferrari dumped the wrong guy!
