2011 Porsche Cayenne Teased - Debut in 4 Days
Porsche 911 GT3 R with 2011 Porsche Cayenne silhouette teased in background - 12.02.2010

Porsche is expected to unveil the 2011 Porsche Cayenne next week on the web.  The online debut on Tuesday will take place two weeks before the official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Porsche posted on their German site the teaser photo of the Cayenne in silhouette behind the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car announced yesterday.

The vehicle is expected to be offered in five different power levels, including a hybrid.  Similar to the recently revealed 2011 VW Touareg Hybrid the new Cayenne will use a 333 PS (245 kW) supercharged 3.0-liter V6 from Audi along with a 47 PS (34 kW) electric motor.  It could top Porsche's fuel economy charts, delivering 34.5 mpg UK combined, with CO2 emissions reduced to under 200 grams per km.

Also on offer will be a VW-powered 3.0-liter TDI  240 PS (176 kW) V6 engine, 3.6-liter 280 PS (206 kW) V6, and a 4.8-liter 400 PS (294 kW) V8.  A turbocharged version of the latter should appear on the Cayenne Turbo, expected to produce up to 500 PS (368 kW).

Look for more details on the 2011 Porsche Cayenne to appear next week.

So the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car exist mainly for Cayenne Hybrid marketing campaign? Clever but how pathetic

you can fiddle with the contrast in Photoshop to see the Cayenne. it's uglier than expected. this is what i got, i'm sure a pro can do a better job : http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/scratchy996/newcayenne.jpg

Thanks for that picture, but no thanks to Porsche - this car's in its third generation now and it still looks like a pissed off hippo with GBH. The Panamera-style headlights aren't helping it much. If only it wasn't their best-selling car in new-money countries. And, er, Chelsea. Then they could axe it. I bet they're only buying it over a Touareg because of the badge. How sad.

Yeah bro, good idea with the contrast adjust. Thanks for that. You can really see it. In almost too much detail. Maybe Porsche intended that. Anyway, I think it's a bit bland, but much less offensive than the last one. It's playing safe like BMW. Problem is, like BMW, no one's liking it. Unlike BMW though, no one liked the previous version either. That's made my head hurt. :S

Your photoshop goes into the right direction, but doesnt really do it justice. i have already seen it at the leipzig plant and i like it a lot...it looked a lot smaller although it is supposed to be bigger!

Nice teaser! Just don`t expect any big changes, this is porsche, they still haven`t changed the ancient design of the 911.

Looks insanely boring to me Plus this car is completely pointless... it only exists as a revenue grab for Porsche anyways as people will buy anything

i've said it before, and i'll say it again - i hate the Cayenne, but if it gives Porsche the money to make cars like the Cayman and 911 better then i'm all for it. let the idiots have their tractor (which is just a rebodied VW after all) and we can reap the rewards that an increase in development budget yields for Porsche's sports cars.

That's the ticket. The Carrera GT would have never existed if it wasn't for the cayenne... as much of a dorky penis replacement as it is.

I have to wonder if any of you naysayers have ever driven a Cayenne for longer than a few blocks? I too used to scoff at the idea of an SUV from Porsche. Till I drove one. I live in Canada, where we have real winters. Cold, icy and deadly roads. There is NO better vehicle than a Cayenne for winter driving. None. Bring your X5's, ML's whatever you want. Nothing compares. The traction, the handling, the brakes...my god the brakes. Amazing. And the stability program??? Drive a BMW or Merc or ANY vehicle with a stability program on icy roads and then drive a Porsche. FEEL the difference! It is night and day. Until you drive your so called "cash cow" or "penis extension", you cannot truly make an opinion. If you have and still have the same opinion, then you have no clue what you are talking about. And I'm sorry, the Touareg is NOT the same thing. Drive both of them back to back and see. Brakes, steering, power, not the same. Porsche gets more power and better fuel economy with VW's own engine. Porsche, there is no substitute.

wall of text hurts my eyes ! no one is doubting the Cayenne's abilities, it's ugly because it is functional , it needs to be aerodynamic for low fuel consumption and it needs that raised front for offroad capabilities. like a duck , it can fly and it can swim , but it ain't the prettiest bird around. i'm sure the GTS version will look better, the current GTS doesn't look bad.

I will never disagree that you get what you paid for as you are comparing among them, but coming from FL or where I am in DC now, utility isn't the reason that most people buy them. All I'm saying. It's funny what you mention, and it's possible that he was on summer tires or something, but over this weekend I watched a cayenne owner struggle to get his out of a parking spot he dug himself out of and the snow hadn't even iced over yet.

Hey Doc, I watched a guy get stuck in a parking lot with his 80 series Land Cruiser. I was like, "are you serious?". Literally took me one minute to lock all his differentials and rock the beast out. It's less about the vehicle and more about the driver...

New Cayenne is going to be awesome especially the turbo. Next to it the BMW X5 looks like a lego car.

I'd much rather buy a Range Rover. It's better looking and it has off-road pedigree

Porsche uses some VW engines, but VW doesn't have access to Porsche engines. the Touareg has a new diesel V8 and the hybrid Touareg with the turbo V6 from Audi is better than a petrol V8.

found this link on a german board yesterday...seems leaked info as the pictures disappeared from porsche`s homepage... looks muuuuch better than the old one in my opinion - maybe still not a beautiful car, but quite ok. wonder how it will be in flesh. http://www.motor-talk.de/bilder/neuer-porsche-cayenne-956-g14758652/cayenne-in-carconfig-68724109-i203226971.html
