If VW offered a package with a upgraded ECU and turbo as such, they would be able to compete with the likes of RS and MS3.
I know there's the R, but this could be an option.

VW have offered this in South Africa - a tune for the MK5 GTI - and it was approximately 45% more costly than the REVO at the time.
