A BMW tipster has posted new information, and a previously-unseen teaser image, of the upcoming BMW M1 to the 1er forum 1addicts.com. Anonymous member and habitual BMW info leaker "Scott26" says the car will better represent the motorsports division with new aerodynamics from front to back.
The often reliable source says the car will be heavily modified at the front to provide "a more muscular appearance." Some of the changes indicated include air intakes in front of the wheels to help cool the six-piston brakes, a trapezoid grille between the intakes, and new headlights. BMW's Active Aerodynamics system will be installed on the car to adjust the air flow when the car is in different situations.
At the back, BMW fans will notice a wider rear end marked by a "classic 'Ducktail'" spoiler. Larger wheel arches will also be seen, as will open ducts at the rear diffuser. As expected, M-branded quad exhaust tailpipes will get noticed. A carbon fiber roof will help shave off weight from the standard 1-Series.
The tipster suggests that 18-inch wheels will be the best size for the new upcoming BMW M1. Five-spoke wheels will be standard, with competition wheels also expected. "Scott26" included an image of one wheel with his post.
The new BMW M1 will likely be released as a 2012 model year car.

I hope they can channel the 2002ti, e30 M3, e9 CSL, or at least e89 Z4 with the production variant.
besides, if manufacturers would only build cars that people need, the world would be full of Corollas and nothing else.

Does anyone else notice the car in the bottom left? I can't tell if that is the face lifted 3, or the NEXT 6-series!
Can anyone confirm?
