Rendered Speculation: 2012 VW Beetle Second Generation

Rendered Speculation: 2012 VW Beetle Second Generation
2013 VW Beetle Rendered Speculation - 650 - 02.02.2010

Volkswagen is preparing the next-generation New Beetle for a 2012 debut. These renderings depict what the car with the iconic name could look like in its final form. Although the New Beetle used this name in many markets around the world, reports suggest that it will lose the "New" prefix and return to being just a Beetle.

The car will gain quite a notable amount of interior space, especially at the rear. It will be bigger both inside and outside, and feature LED technology in the front and rear exterior lights clusters. Muscular wheel arches will underscore its intentions of attracting a younger, feistier set. Moreover an eco-friendly BlueMotion and a hot R version could be added to the range for the first time.  Although an R version leaves us skeptical, the recent announcement of a new VW performance orientated R division could make it reality.

I was hoping they would use the flat-top concept they had a while back. But this isn't bad either. Fishes, Narco.

It looks way less girly than the last model. Hopefully they omit the wussy little flower holder.

this is sweeet! they're taking the old school looks which was by far the best instead of that girly round shape they brought out a decade ago. nicenice.

This looks like a love child of current beetle and current Chrysler PT Cruiser. Not good, but I suppose this is just someone trying to get on web pretending to be creative.

Was it love really? I thought I'm only who sees here the presence of PT cruiser. In other hand this car is not much worse than a "bastardo" of cuckoo-clock and truck.

I hope they leave it to rest. They made a mess of the New Beetle. I don't think they can fix it. Especially as BMW did such a good job with the Mini Cooper and Fiat with the 500. Leave it for a few years and then maybe try again. Hopefully people will have forgotten the last one. I certainly hope I do...

personally , the thing looks squashed . the remedy? incorporate the sexy configuration of a Porsche 993 roofline instead of that flat boring top , period .

I hope they put the engine rear this time like the iconic car. After they do this we can call it Beetle.

Im glad VW is realizing that the current car is just way too "cute" most guys just dont want to drive them. I am a huge beetle fan and have been ever since I first saw Herbie as a child. I would buy the car shown above and not feel like I just emasculated myself.

It does resemble the PT cruiser - which i HATE! Looks like I'd better trade in my jetta for a Beetle now, before I miss my chance - bec I don't think I'll like the new version unfortunately.
