2011 VW Touareg New Generation Photos Leaked
2011 VW Touareg New Generation scale model photos leaked - 800

Two photos showing a scale replica of the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg have leaked out six-to-ten weeks ahead of its unveiling.  The photos, which surfaced on Dutch website Autoweek.nl, show a vehicle that replaces the boxy front fascia with a rounder look and chrome accents.

The front-end changes bring the car more inline with the new design paradigm seen on some of the company's most recent vehicles.  It looks to have a windshield installed at a greater incline, leading towards an available dual-pane sunroof.  The angle of the photo suggests a shorter vehicle than the previous model, but a with a lengthier rear end.

Hopefully, these photos will prompt Volkswagen to release official pictures and details.  The lighter-weight Touareg will likely get TSI and TDI engines, as well as a 240-horsepower 3.0-liter diesel, and 290-horsepower 3.0-liter supercharged V6.

Built on the Cayenne platform, the next-generation 2011 Volkswagen Touareg will likely be introduced at either the Geneva Motor Show in March, or the New York Auto Show in April.  A market launch will take place before in the fall or winter.

so true, they need to start being more imaginative, yeah, the front looked good on things like Scirocco, golf or polo, but don't start welding it on anything coming out of the assembly line

How is that different from the other manufacturers? Acura MDX, TL and TSX. Toyota Sienna, Venza, Camry and Corolla. Mercedes GLK, E Class and C Class. Audi Q7, Q5, A4, 5, 6 and 8. BMW anything... Just to name a few. Its more branding than anything else. They want you to be able to identify their vehicle with a family resemblance. Sometimes the resemblance is overwhelming. With that said, based on what I see here (Not Much), I'll stick with the Toureg2.

Doesn't look like much. Looks pretty much like a Passat wagon... We need better pictures to see it more clearly.

frankly this design doesn't exude any personality whatsoever, I'd be better off with the current gen or the Tiguan

So much for creative ideas... it is basically a Golf tweaked for off-roading!

The pictures appear to be those of a scale model, presumably 1:18. I like the current Touareg better, at least until better pictures come out.

Hopefully VW learned from the last toureg and wont share so many parts with the Cayenne this go around. I remember working at the dealership and seeing customers heads explode when we quoted them 2K on a set of pads and rotors. LOL

I thought SUV design could not get more bland than the last Touareg (well, before the facelift, if I'm honest), but this one has managed just that. I don't get it. The Tiguan looks modern and funky, while still being restrained enough to not eclipse VW's more expensive and flash cousins from Audi and Porsche etc, but this is just wrong. It's the same reason the Audi R8 will never be as powerful, flash or raucous (or indeed expensive) as a Gallardo, which is essentially the same car. I really hoped the Touareg would step out from behind the Cayenne's shadow and stand on its own in this second generation, but from these pics, it doesn't look like it. Shame, VW.

This is a mini-van of an SUV. Isn't the entire point of SUVs to not be a mini-van? Seriously, I thought the current-gen Touareg was just about perfect visually/ proportion-wise (though the Tiguan is even better). ...I really hope Tiguan doesn't go this same route.

I bet it's bad in off roading, that's what I like about the current model, it can do off road work and has a low gearing. This looks a bit soft to me.
