Mercedes GP reveals livery for 2010 car
Mercedes GP MGP W01 car launch - 25.01.2010

Mercedes GP on Monday revealed the bright silver livery it will use on its cars for the 2010 world championship.

At the German carmaker's Stuttgart museum shortly after 11am, drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg presented the colour scheme - featuring a black nose and a turquoise sheen in deference to title sponsor Petronas - to hundreds of media representatives.

The car, to be unveiled and tested next Monday in Spain, will be called the MGP W01, the team said in a press statement.

"On the nose and other parts of the car, traces of black carbon fibre are visible," said Mercedes, referring to the fact that the traditional use of silver dates back to when white paint was sanded off the 1934 car to reduce weight.

"We are perfectly on schedule," said Norbert Haug, responding as to why the 2009 Brawn car was used for the livery launch.

"If you are testing on 1 February and you have already finished the car beforehand, then you have not used your time correctly," said the German.

Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, meanwhile, was not on message after Mercedes officials insisted for weeks that Schumacher and Rosberg do not represent 'Team Germany'.

He said the duo "together complete the German formula one national team".

Michael Schumacher's just like the rest of us. He puts his pants on one leg at a time. Once his pants are on, he wins world championships. GO SCHUMI!!!

the only reason I feel bad for the change is that I really liked the color scheme of the team and last year's livery, but this will make up for it I'm sure :)

I think it looks white because of the lighting and flashbulbs. It'll probably look more silver on the track

For one second, I thought that was Ralf Schumacher standing over there. This season is going to be interesting since Kimi is in the WRC & why did Michael come back in the season? could it be Alonso moving to Ferrari or 'cause Kimi moved out?

pretty average paint job IMO. derivative of mclaren's but not nearly as well designed and the stripe on the engine cover with the mercedes-benz logo is just messy. go mclaren. i hope lewis and jenson kick schuey's butt.

we're in for some proper UK vs Germany action, it would've been perfect if McLaren would've featured British Racing Green on their new livery, but perhaps Lotus will make a good show this year. anyway, in terms of this one, it's pretty nice, although I loved McLaren's silver scheme from the last few seasons, with black accents and the Vodafone red

One wonders whether Honda will still have a hand in development, after all it still is a Honda with a German engine. One also wonders why Honda pulled out after sorting out the car. Surely there was an extra bonus. Methinks this whole development was initiated over a year ago sothat there was no fist time out fiasco for MBenz if they lost. If Brawn had lost it would have meant nothing with no connection for MB. Add to it the fact that Schummies neck miraculously healed. Or is it all involving the bookies...makes you think. There is a helluva lot of money involved. Makes me think long about the whole set-up!
