New spy photos of the 2011 Ford Mondeo facelift have surfaced six weeks before its introduction in Geneva.  The car was spied during cold weather testing along European route E45, a road that runs from the northern Sweden/Finland border down to the southern tip of Sicily, Italy.

The new pictures show a car, powered by the TDCi engine, that has faced at least one challenge: the car looks to be scratched and dented at the bottom of the rear passenger-side door.

Under Ford's Kinetic Design scheme, engineers included a new front bumper with other changes expected on the facelifted model.  The prototypes are still sporting black tape covering up details here, which may include LEDs.  A new grille is also expected here.  Test vehicles also seem to indicate that the next model will have new side mirrors, as well as rear LED clusters.  Changes to the rear bumper are also possible, and interior upgrades are anticipated.

Look for the 2011 model year Mondeo to get the Galaxy facelift's 200-horsepower 2.0-liter Ecoboost engine mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel.  The diesel will be available with either 113, 138, or 160 horsepower.

Eventually, a four-cylinder 1.6-liter Ecoboost producing up to 180 hp may also be offered.

Look for the 2011 Ford Mondeo facelift to be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

This has J Mays written all over it. I wish Ford would replace the Fusion with the Mondeo here in the US... but that won't be happening any time soon.

I actually like the new Fusion, sharp looking car, good engine choices. I've always liked the Mondeo though ever since the Contour years.

I don't mind the new Focus, it could be a bit better but its not bad. This car looks pretty good, follows the Ford design language thats working here and generally, and it doesn't look like a clone. Nice engine choice that 2.0T.

All the engines and technology are derived from volvo. Americans are only good in stealing other people innovations.

Ya...sure you're kinda wrong but it was FORD that was in place to BUY VOLVO. So for however good Volvo was they weren't good enough to stay their own car company, not good enough to stand on their own two feet, not good enough to NOT be bought by a "lowly American firm".

I find it funny when people make comments like that, and then you look at their screen name and it just all makes sense...

All the good Ford technologies comes from the european Ford, but some good parts are from Volvo... Then again, the brilliant diesel engines are Peugeot-Citroen technology. I could have the new 1,6T in a new Focus, a new S60 or S40...

Volvo is one of the best car manufacturers in the world. they make great cars (XC90, C30, S40, S60 etc), but they couldn't become a famous brand like VW or Ford because they were simply overrun by them in terms of marketing and advertising. SAAB is another good example of a company which makes great cars, but because of rival dominance over it they just couldn't make an influence around consumers

I just wish that Ford get the finger out of their asses and start making Mondeo with Haldex 4x4, or even better; a Mondeo XC70 style. I currently own a Kuga, but would like to have some more space but also want 4x4. VAG delivers 4x4 in Passat, and the Volvo XC70 is based on the Mondeo, so it really shouldnt be a problem?!
