2011 Chevrolet Aveo RS concept live in Detroit, NAIAS 12.01.2010

Bigger, better, bolder

Chevrolet has unveiled the Aveo RS Concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Meant to preview the next-generation Aveo (which will be launched in 2011), the RS features a massive grille, three-dimensional taillights, brushed aluminum accents, and 19-inch wheels. Inside, the concept boasts a luxurious interior with leather upholstery, metallic accents, and gloss black trim.

Power comes from a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec engine with 138 hp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque.

According to Chevrolet's general manager, Jim Campbell, "We hope the Aveo RS show car will demonstrate that we are as serious about redefining the Aveo and its place in the small-car segment..."

Nice try chevy but toyota beat your to the punch 13 YEARS AGO. I'm sure for a third of the price you could buy a Starlet Glanza V which has aprox the same power with 100 cc less displacement, likely better fuel economy and better handling. Competition in the small performance car segment is RUTHLESS and in order to do so you need top notch product. Not a rebadged daiwoo with a turbo.

Is anyone else seeing a VW scIROCco Concept at the front and a tarted up Scion xA at the rear? And yet, if you cheapen it down for production in your head, it's not all that different from the existing Aveo. Big grille, quite tall and narrow, similar lines, just less creases and square headlights. Hopefully it will be a better car though. The current Daewoo-Kalos-with-a-crass-grille is octogenarian fly paper, and very cheap. To build.

GM please add a 4wheelDr and bump up the horses to minimum 250 bouncing horses, you will never regret it! And please do all of these quickly while VWUSA/Canada are dragging their collective feet on bringing the VW Golf R into North America.
