Next Generation 2012 Ford Focus and 2011 Lincoln MKX to Debut in Detroit
2010 Ford Grand C-Max - hi res

New engines, improved styling

Ford will introduce the redesigned Focus and updated Lincoln MKX at North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Set to be launched as a 2012 model, the next-generation Focus will have a truly global design as "it will look the same in the United States, Europe and Asia." While details are limited, we can expect European-inspired styling and a vastly improved interior. Reports suggests it will resemble the Focus-based C-Max introduced in Frankfurt.

Engine options will likely include a 1.0-liter with 89 hp to 108 hp, a 1.6-liter with 170 hp, and a 2.0-liter with at least 230 hp. On the diesel side, Ford will offer a 1.6-liter with 128 hp and 2.0-liter with 168 hp to 197 hp. If that isn't impressive enough, the Focus will also feature both dual-clutch transmission and six-speed manual.

The 2011 Lincoln MKX will feature revised restyling (it will adopt the MKT's massive grille), an updated interior (photos included), and the new MyLincoln Touch infotainment system.

Stay tuned to WCF for full coverage of the 2010 North American International Auto Show, starting Monday.

The current US Focus is hideous! Glad to see they're bringing the Euro-Focus back there... Even Jay Leno has the Euro-Focus on his show!

I agree, the current Focus is one of the ugliest car on the roads today. I just hope they won't screw the engines on the US version.

@Max_Speed, One of the engines of the US version will be a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter with Ti-VCT and direct injection.

These cars are functional, economic and are incredibly profitable. These little cars sell solid in South America and Europe. It's finally starting to catch on in America. The car is a ten for all intents and purpose, which is why Ford is the only auto company here who isnt leeching off the government bail out.

The lincoln MKx naming BS has to go. I hail from two generations of Lincoln owners. My dad has an 1953 Capri convertible that he purchased new. I can't keep MKwhatthehelleverletter models straight. This is beyond dumb.

Redesign?! That is not good... I am a huge Euro Ford fan, and I think the US is ready for our Focus. :)

'was?' What year are you in? xD The sad thind is that the next focus will be designed to appeal to the american market, and looking at the previous US models, that won't be a good thing for the rest of the world. :/

Based on the pictures of the covered vehicles AG4 referenced, it appears the 2012 Focus will look a lot like the smaller version of the new European Ford C-Max. It will be interesting to see if Ford shows both the five-door hatchback and four-door sedan version of the new Focus at NAIAS, though.
