New iS model coming to the US?

New details have emerged about BMW's facelifted 2011 3-Series Coupe and Convertible (E92/E93).

As our previous spy photos have shown, the updated 3-Series will feature modified bumpers, new LED taillights, and revised fog lights. Other changes will include new colors choices (both interior and exterior), Anthracite Bamboo wood trim, and revised paddle shifters. The M-Sport package will now feature 19-inch wheels (instead of 18-inchers) and automatic high beam assist will become an optional extra.

More importantly, BimmerFile is reporting BMW will offer a new "iS" model for the United States. It will boast a double-clutch transmission (a 'Sport Automatic' will also be available), an aerodynamic body kit, and several M styling cues.

Power will likely be provided by the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six used in the Z4 sDrive35is. This means the 3-Series iS will have at least 246kW (335 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, which should allow it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 5.2 seconds.

Look for the updated E92 and E93 to appear at the Geneva Motor Show in March. An official announcement is expected the coming weeks.

now now kids, calm down! two opposing fan boys aren't going to have a decent debate about a BMW... so lets just acknowledge the differences between audi and BM and move on... onn another note, im glad to see the iS coming with some proper upgrades finally!

about time we got some god damn maturity. if you don't like the car, don't bother to post about it. i don't like bmws, but i will defend bmw lovers' right to like them unhindered by audi fanboys ;)

When did this board become so pathetic? People used to have such good conversations about cars and experiences driving them, now it's all about the playstation generation talking s*** when they can't even tell you about something like an E30 M3. The last refuge for the true petrolhead has been spoiled by mere children.

I wholeheartedly agree with adz612. The enjoyment of this forum has decreased to almost nothing due to the arguing and the name calling. If you make an intelligent comment about a vehicle you get slammed by the others that want to see if they can make the funniest comment...whether its on topic or not. The forum is about CARS and the people who love them. Not about nationalism. If you like BMW cool they are good cars and so are Audis but there isn't a need to be nasty to the people actually posting intelligent comments about the article. Different cars appeal to different people and if all you have to say is: "it's ugly" , "it looks like an R8" , or just " lol " save your time. Some of us want to read about the cars not go back to high school.

I would have to blame the moderators. I remember a while ago that they would work hard to rid this place of all the retards, but clearly they're sleeping on the job.

Agreed, bashing BMW is silly as they are one of the top leading and successful auto manufacturers. Comments like that just make people lose their credibility.

who needs an M3 now? 335iS has more torque than its V8 brother. also, are they kidding with iS's 0-60 time? regular 335 gets there in 5 sec or less!

Looks like they are starting to align the looks of the 3 series to the new 5 series. Slow changes to make the 2 cars jive and look like big brother and little brother.

The Play Station Generation? Why do we always get the blame.....BMW are one of the best automakers, I have owned several BMW's & was completly satisfied 100% especially with my M5.... I actually just purchased an Aston Martin & I like the feeling of the M5 better.. Not in the styling department but engineering I take my hat off to BMW especially the M division...

First of all "ccrispy," why are you comparing an M5 to an Aston Martin??? They are completely different cars, IMO, of course the bimmer is better in overall driving experience and feel. Go drive a E63, RS6, CTS-V or the new Panamera, those are better comparison. The Porsche and Caddy, however is better in everything over the M5, (looks aside are subjective) plus the M5 is getting old! Wait until new model.

And before anyone replies I know "ccrispy," said he owns both, but it's obvious besides looks the Aston doesn't hold a candle next to the M. Anyone that has driven the two would know. IMO, Aston is just looks, nothing else.

Don't get me wrong ccrispy, I say playstation generation as in young kids who couldn't care less about the classics. All I'm trying to say is know your s*** before you start talking s**. As far as owning cars goes, i've owned 19 cars in my 10 years of driving, including evo's, m3's, alfa romeo's, merc sl's, range rovers etc and I could go on bragging, but what's the point? I visit this forum to check out the new and upcoming stuff, decide what I'd like to buy and have intelligent conversations about the world's greatest cars. Not argue about a BMW looking like a Kia. What's the point in that? I've been brought up around cars and knew how to service a car fully before I was 7 years old. Hangin out with my grandad having proper conversations about motors. 20 years later not much has changed. What I am trying to express is do not destroy this forum (not yourself personally, but the kids in here who don't know s***) and let's be real about the one thing we share in common which is our love and appreciation for cars. Forget the senseless bickering! Hope that clears up whatever misunderstanding there was. ;)

Playstation Generation is where it is at, it will be both the saviour and destroyer of our current world. The fascination with technology and what was a "want" for the previous generation has now become a "need" to have the newest and latest. This push for something new, something better will force the world we know today to disapear and evolve into something new at a much faster rate than currently. Just wait until everyone retires and this generation is at the wheel of industry. Faster technological evolution has its advantages and its disadvantages, waste and getting closer to our own destruction. But who cares, we'll have much cooler stuff day by day. A 5 year model life time will be unheard of.
