Lee Noble's Fenix Supercar Renderings Released

Lee Nobles Fenix Supercar Renderings Released
Lee Noble's Fenix Supercar teaser rendering - 1600

Lee Noble, the founder of Noble Automotive, has released a series of renderings featuring his next supercar. The car will be produced by Noble's new company, Fenix Automotive, set-up within the two years following his departure from Noble Automotive.

Renderings show an interesting front fascia and spoiler that bulges at the outer edges, making the front take on a convex appearance. A trapezoidal blacked-out honeycomb grille looks sporty, while the headlights and LEDs look almost menacing. Indicators appear to also be built into the sideview mirrors. The overhead view of the car shows a vehicle that will likely have limited cabin space. Although a two-seater, it looks like access will be provided to the rear through rearward opening "suicide" doors, making loading and unloading of gear a bit easier.

Purchasers of the as-yet unnamed car will get a choice of either the GM LS3 V8-engine, producing 480 horsepower, or the LS9 V8-engine from the Corvette ZR1. That engine bumps horsepower up to 638 hp. Using the bigger engine, the Fenix is expected to reach 100mph (160 km/h) in under seven seconds.

Keeping the vehicle's weight at 1,200 kilograms was key to reaching that ludicrous sprint time. A composite body helped weight remain low on the two-seater. Top speed on the car is 200 mph.

Pricing on the unnamed car will begin at £75,000. Sales could begin by the fourth quarter of 2010.

TEASER PICS PROVIDE FIRST GLIMPSE OF NEW LEE NOBLE SUPERCAR

Leicestershire - These are the first official shots of Fenix Automotive's astonishing new supercar, which is due on UK sale in the second half of this year.

While Lee Noble has given a strong hint that the car will be a ‘natural, but even more focused' successor to his iconic M12, his new design is fresh, bold and dramatic, with a premium feel normally associated with exotica costing over £150,000.

"The M12 was hugely successful, but we needed to move the game on in terms of design," said Lee. "The new car's styling owes nothing to what I've done before and has quite literally been a ‘clean sheet' exercise from the start. It's edgy, with powerful lines, and aerodynamically will be in another league to any of my previous cars."

Fenix also announced that it will be offering a choice of two engines for the new car. GM's 480bhp LS3 V8 will be the 'base' unit, while the 6.2-litre supercharged LS9 V8, as seen in the recently launched Corvette ZR1, will provide customers with a 638bhp power option.

Factor in a target kerb weight of 1200kgs, and performance in either car will be prodigious, but Fenix estimates that the LS9-engined car should accelerate from 0-100mph in under seven seconds on its way to a top speed of around 200mph.

"Our first prototype is now in build and development will start in around one month's time," said Lee. "We'll be hot-weather testing the first prototype on the mountain roads around Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where the car will be manufactured. But I'm itching to get the car back to the UK where I can set it up on roads I know well."

Except for the front grille... it looks like an R8 (it has been too long since nobody mentioned that).

Two huge bubbles with three shiny dots for morphology of front fenders (front view pic) are ridiculous but suits well to ludicrous design culture where underdeveloped kids are re-cartooning for automotive industry everithing they saw in Pixar or Hanna-Barbera movies.

Renderings look good and promising, would have to see the built version before passing judgement.

Wow. 531bhp/tonne compared to the M600's 520bhp/tonne makes for a very close fight indeed. You can see Noble influences in the second picture, with the M12-esque buttresses and flat, smooth surfaces. I think any Lambo-ness is down to the big trapezoidal air intakes in the front bumper. Either way, it looks good. If the M600 can hit 225mph, what will this Fenix Gambon R 531 manage? (What? It doesn't have a name yet. Can't I invent one?)

...wow...blatant rip-off of Lamborghini Murceialago and parent company Audi/VW. The front fascia is a smoothed-out Lambo with detailing more in line with Audi. Noble makes cars that perform but now it's time to try and make a more original design.

The design is certainly derivative (Gumpert Apollo wings & Lexus F logo), but the performance should be unique. Britain should be proud of this Noble gesture, especially in view of TVR's misfortune.
