I agree but that's why I like the new Challenger. It looks like a modernized version of the original.

The strobe stripe graphics are just hideous. I'd pay the 2k to make sure it wasn't put on. Spoiler looks cheesy too. The scoop's okay. Who cares about the rest.

Dodge watches as Ford and GM come out with better looking, better performing 'muscle cars' over the last year, and this is how they respond? ...weak

This car was cool for about 1 week when it first came out...But just like chrysler, it's long faded by now.

Almost less relevant and appealing than Rosie O'Donnell.

Please this is nothing more than an overwieght 2 door dodge Charger. I see this car everyday and its to big to heavy and and doesnt have the sensuality of a Stang or camaro period. The shifter is pure Velveta and no disrespect to the Cheese maker.

When you'll drive an SRT model you'll understand why this car is so amazing, until then try to keep your cheesy remarks to yourself.

i don't need to drive it. i've driven a 2 gen old E320 before so i get the idea. it's a cool looking car, but it's just a shame they lumbered it with such an old chassis. i hate GM but the Camaro is much better than this and would be the car i go for if i were in the market for such a thing.

Sorry Sub39h, while you've driven a 2 gen old E class you haven't driven an E-class chassis stuffed with a 6.1L Hemi that offers up over 435hp. Til that day, BMWAddicts post still applies; keep the cheesy comments to yourself.

More toolish comments here. The chassis may be old and the car may be quite heavy but none of that matters. It handles fairly well for a 4000lb car, it has great engine choices(specifically the Hemis) and it looks amazing with pretty good performance to match. This is a Muscle car with more emphasis on handling and if you don't beleive that then you have no clue what a true Muscle car was. This car takes the best of the Muscle cars and marries them to a sophisticated albeit old chassis and the end result while heavy is very good if you're smart enough to not be fanboys or just randomly hate on american cars.

Xanavi, it may handle well for a 4,000lb car, but the fact remains: it's a 4,000lb car, and that just doesn't compete... No bias in my opinion, but based on my reading of many articles of comparison from Detroit's offerings in this segment, GM and Ford bare the title of true MODERN American muscle.

Well, there's no getting around the fact that its a 4000lb car. Again though while its weight limits its competitiveness in its segment its still not too much of a critical point as you call these cars "Muscle cars". Back in the day true Muscle cars were not lightweight cars so in a sense this is a true Muscle car again. However the difference this time is that the car is heavy for a reason; very large spacious cabin that fits 5 EASILY and a top tier chassis that was influenced by the old Benz E class. Ford may hold the title for todays Best definition of Modern Muscle car due to their consideration of a smaller and consequentially lighter chassis. However i still prefer the Challenger/Charger. As for GM i disagree, the Camaro is an amazing car that i like as well however it isn't much lighter than the Challenger. Also at the moment, Ford interpretation of "Modern" is only skin deep as their rear suspension design is same design used for 60 years. The Challenger may be heavy and very large but with its sophisticated IRS(Independant Rear Suspension) it isn't superficially modern, its Mechanically modern.

lol, you're definitely right about that, the Dodge is the only "comfortable" car for 5 in the segment. The only thing about the camaro that I have to add is that it may be nearly as heavy, but GM has compensated with engineering feats such as chassis construction, an awesome drive train and suspension to place it at the top of the class, Dodge was unable to do that. And I definitely should have mentioned that Ford is totally lacking with the solid read axle, way outdated. And one can't ignore the fact that that car is getting old, regardless of its recent face lift and new 5.0. But one has to applaud what they've achieved with that, despite it's age. I think we both agree that each car has it's own element that sets itself apart -in both good and bad ways.

for the people complaining about the weight. 4000 pounds means its smother and rides better and it isnt made from plastic like the pony and bumble bee. i used to hate dodge. i had a corvette, but after the challenger the corvette is just another car you see every 20 min while you are driving. i also had an m3 and a 335i cabrio none where stock. and i can tell you that the challenger turns more heads then any of those. and when you drive a camaro or a stang it feels cheap, the challenger feels solid, thats why its 4000 pounds.

Its funny you say that. a few weeks ago i see this; a BMW 335 pulls up next to a Challenger(V6 only on top), the BMW rolls down his window after he turned his head and stared at the Challenger for numerous seconds and told the Challenger to do the same. Window opens and the BMW driver tells the V6 Challenger driver, "hey man, VERY nice car" then proceeded to ask about engine size and rim size. Point being that while the 335 may be a "better" car to many people, nothing is like a Challenger. Its the truest looking Muscle car and its a true Hommage to the original.
