Racing Dynamics Preparing 2011 BMW 5-Series (F10) Tuning Program
Racing Dynamics R50S based on 2011 BMW 550i

German tuners Racing Dynamics have released their initial plans for tuning the next-gen BMW 5-Series F10.  The company plans to give performance and aero modifications to both the 2011 550i and the 535i.

The twin-turbo V8 used in the 550i will be boosted by a staggering 52% to 620-horsepower.  With this kind of power, performance brakes with discs capable of 800 degrees Celsius will definitely be used, as will a sport-suspension and rear-locking differential.  An increase in torque was not disclosed for this engine, but speed will top out at 340 km/h (211.2 mph) according to BMWblog.com.

A 34% horsepower increase will be given to the 535i, bringing output up to 410-horsepower and a beefy 530 Nm of torque.  This could allow for a 0-100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds.  The stock 535i hits 100 km/h in 6.0.

Outside, the included rendering shows a car with a new rear diffuser incorporating quad-exhaust pipes.  Sidesills look to be boxier than the originals.  Light, 21-inch one-piece wheels have been confirmed.

Inside, the company promises a carbon fiber trim offered in different colors.  Wood trim will also be offered.

With turbocharging, who needs an M badge? Nice rims but your neighbor might think it is a 335i sedan.

It doesn't look anything like a 3. Look at the brake lights and the overall shape. The new 5 looks fantastic I can't wait to see the M5.

the brake lights look almost identical, have you even seen the current 3-series? the only thing that might set it apart is that the tail lamps on this are slanted inward a bit but that is a detail only car guys will pick up on. your average customer is going to have a hard time distinguishing. it is definitely not as close a resemblance as say . . . the entire audi lineup however.

It would be nice to one of these tuners focus on weight and suspension. All the fun is in the corners. A trained chimp can mash the accelerator. I guess racing between traffic lights is what sells cars these days.

racing dynamics. they disappeared for a long while. (i have higher hopes from the other german tuners.) sure. 620hp sounds very nice. is the stock gear box going to hold up to that?

The new auto transmission probably not, especially with a locking rear diff. I cant see it lasting too many 0-100 dashes full out.

Beautiful car...but when are you going Serial Hybrid or Plug In-Hybrid BMW? You can get better figures with a Large Electric Motor, more Torque and More Horsepower...less pollution. I think its time that you guys in BMW put a very efficient small Turbine engine to Generate power for a Serial Hybrid Powertrain. Do it now, or Merc is gonna eat you alive.

I never see tuner cars that I think look as good as the factory versions. They always look so overdone and cheesy. I think of all those Lorinser and Brabus Mercedes, or Kelleners and AC Schnitzer BMWs - massive aftermarket wheels, and cartoon proportions. I guess when the manufacturer spends millions on its design departments, it's hard for a smaller operation to compete in terms of style or sophistication. It's a waste of money and ruins the resale value as well.
