Audi Readying New Concept for Detroit Auto Show

Wow, look, A6 with two cuts on the trunk lid! Audi, stop boring me!!!

My gut feeling tells me it is a A6 concept car which is basically an A7 with more rear headroom and a seat for the 5th passenger. They might disguise it as a Sportback or a shooting brake or an allroad. The A3 is feeling its age. Audi Q3 concept perhaps? Probably a baby Audi Hybrid or the A8 Hybrid to woo the Americans.

I think this will be the anwser to BMW's Vision Efficient Dynamics concept, it surely sounds like it. If that is true, it will be more of a R4 hybrid-electric car. What i'm hoping for is a aluminium hatchback with diesel-hybrid drive, something like the Up Lite! concept. Audi could price it correctly as their market position is more premium, so VAG could decide to convert the concept in a Audi production model instead of a VW.

The "single-frame philosophy" driven "grill-party" in Audi design saves us all (two first comments)from being bored.

i rather think its something like a A5 superleggera which is roughly 400kg lighter than the standard one (thanks to aluminum bodywork ect) and likely to be equiped with a enging similar to the one seen in tts (4-cyl & 275hp)

I think it might be an rs4 with high performance diesel engine.

I would appreciate seeing the next generation A3. Its about time, a facelift can only go so far. But I doubt that, if it is next gen A3, it falls far from the MKVI of the GTI.

RS4? no. hopped up/next gen R8? done (eTron). A7? done. allroad? done. q3? boring. A1? redundant. I like the idea of high performance diesel. The A5 superleggera was already revealed to the world. TT? They did the clubsport concept sometime in the last two years and this platform is too new to pose a replacement for. A6? not flashy enough for this attention. RS5? only if they do something big with the drivetrain like a KERS system. I think WCF hit the nail on the head: R4 concept with mules to follow. I'm picturing metroproject-style hybrid on steroids considering the eTron.

What Audi might present in Detroit is production ready RS5, as they have been testing it for quite some time now, and we saw some of the spy photos. On the other hand, this article says that they will present a concept, meaning something completely new.
