New Lexus GS-F to Receive LFA's V10 Engine - report

New Lexus GS-F to Receive LFAs V10 Engine - report
Lexus GS F Rendering

May boast 560 hp and 480Nm of torque

According to a recent report, Lexus will build a GS-F to compete with the Mercedes E63 AMG, the BMW M5, and the Cadillac CTS-V.

Since all these cars pack over 500 hp, the 416 hp 5.0-liter V8 from IS-F simply won't do. Instead, Best Car is reporting the GS-F will feature a slightly modified version of the 4.8-liter V10 from the LFA supercar. With approximately 560 hp and 480Nm of torque, the V10 will enable the GS-F to stand toe-to-toe with the 556 hp Cadillac, the 518 hp E63, and the 555 hp M5.

Considering the next-generation GS will appear in 2011 (as a 2012 model), expect the GS-F to hit dealer showrooms in 2012.

[UPDATE]  A Lexus Europe spokesperson has responded via their Twitter page, "Many rumours flying on Lexus GS F V10. Not going to comment on those. Only that LFA V10 is bespoke to LFA."

LFA V-10 and sound without the retarded 400K price tag? Can you say 'sold out' faster than these things will actually sell out?

Hopefully Yamaha will once again get involved in engineering the channeling of the acoustic engine sound into and out of the compartment. That will be good.

Great!!! And let me guess.... They'll go ahead and have this one leased out to the U.S. public as well?? I think that they should revise the current V8 they have. Strap a couple of turbos to it if they have to (everyone else seems to be doing it). Don't waste money on a detuned V-10 engine, that is made for your exclusive model, by sticking it into the GS-F that can be attained easier than the LFA.

So if they price this correctly, this GS-F will sell like hotcakes, but LF-A's will gather dust from the showrooms. Hmm....

Looks like this will be most likely the only V-10 in the future of mid size super sedans as most are going V-8 TT, and I'm not talking about the Audi cause only BMW and Benz mean anything, lol. Anyone that has driven an M-5 can attest to the sound of the V-10, but sure could use alittle more torque, but at 8000 RPMs I can live with it!!

I think Lexus is a little late to the game. Why are they bringing a V10 now when the market is demanding greater efficiency in the form of force induction V8 TTs? I can't wait to see what the updated AMG 5.5 liter is going to look like. This is cool, but ultimately I don't think I could ever bring myself to say I like a Lexus, you all can take that however you want.

Ah, another super Toyota for the elderly. They will also be one step behind the germans, who are presently looking to stop producing their V10s in future models and start using turbo charged V8s to make their cars lighter and give them greater fuel economy. Lexus should leave BMW, Mercedes, and Audi alone and go after their real competitor, BUICK.

Maybe you should write a letter to Lexus and maybe, just maybe they will listen. In the meantime the germans could learn a thing about reliability from the japanese.

Ferrariguy.....All the cars I've owned have been German except one and I've never had "reliability" issues. And I've had quite a few BMWs, Porsches, and a Rolls Royce. [Update] Forget what I said about the V10 as the details have changed.

IMO a high revving V-10 is much better to me than a forced induction V-8. I will miss the current 6.2 from MB and V-10 from BMW. Nothing, IMO matches the raw sound of NA motors and the current M3 with its NA V-8 will be the last as BMW is going all forced induction = (

Not a bad idea but i would prefer a specially developed powerful V8 because thats where Germany's big boys are headed right now.

They haven't even announce they will build it yet, how can it be the best car? the amount of fanboys in the internet are overwhelming

 M! M!
as the lexus europe twit indicate, they are not denying a V10 GS-F, just it will not be that same LFA V10. they would really piss those 500 owners off it they sold the same V10 in a GS-F.

If the LF-A has a V10 and the IS-F has a V8, there is a high change the GS-F will have a Forced induction engine (v8) Man this car just keeps getting better....
