I'll take Chavez over the imbecile George Wanker Bush or the neo-colonialist Tony Bliar any day.

That's pretty stupid, with all due respect. If Chavez had ever been the President of the US, probably half the countries on the face of the Earth would be no more. Granted, Bush was a horrible president and it's understandable that you don't like it, but preferring a mentally unstable, irremediably ignorant, highly fanatic, blood-thirsty, intolerant freak of nature as president borders with stupidity and madness.

Ignorant: Misunderestimate, subliminable, nucular. Intolerant: You're either with us or you're with the terrorists. Bloodthirsty: [the war on Iraq]is a crusade. Freak of nature perfectly describes Bush. And if he had his way, half of the countries in the world would be no more.

@ Norther: He wants a vehicle that is "rustic", meaning something that is simple, and does the job for the commons, ie: something CHEAP, because the majority of the working population can't afford a modern Toyota. If you think about it, when Toyota started coming into the Western market some 30 years ago, their situation was VERY similar to that of the Chinese manufacturers today, less some safety factors... I have to say that I'm rooting for the Chinese and Indian companies. Anything to take Detroit and Japan of their high-horse.

Why is that? Plus, it isn't like Detroit is riding high lately...

The venezuelan Govt' should just buy the Chinese Products if they still want to have "rustic" models. There are some good Chinese brands to meet the criteria... Land Cruiser has evolved into Premium Luxury SUV which would not meet the government criteria of rustic models.

So Chaves, Toyota is not doing what you say. Somebody have to teach you some basic rules of human life in very hard way I'm afraid.

If Toyota (or any other car manufacturer) were to leave, Chavez will confiscate all of their factory equipment allowing him to build Toyotas. He will have all the factory jigs, stampings, etc... I'm not saying it;s right but pulling out late at night right before a massive fire/explosion might be the way out.

The term "Third World" is no longer acceptable. It and "Middle East" should be consigned to history as politically incorrect, racist terms.

...and what do you say instead of "Third world" and "Middle East"? and would that also not be politically incorrect, racist terms?

I haven't checked here for a while, sorry for the delay. Right, "Developing World" is a much more civilized term. Furthermore, South West Asia, North Africa and the Arab World are more specific terms than "Middle East", not to mention non-colonialist.

To answer 9Tnine: Third World Country got got changed to "Developing country" Wake up people!!!! Bush is history, move on now. Chavez is an idiot extremist who wants everybody to do whatever he says. He is running that country to the ground by forcing everybody to stay outdated. Instead of building "rustic vehicles" why not to build better roads so you wont need such outdated, unsafe POS?
