Not a bad idea but, still, with a V12 on the front, fuel consumption wont be low. Anyway, if you have a Ferrari...do you really care about mileage?

Personally hybrids has no business in sportcars. So they only doing this to please those enviromental freaks happy. if it was me I'd drop every last one of them down a volcano.

I admit the idea of a hybrid performance/sports car is an oxymoron...but if I had the money and wanted a supercar, I would be attracted by the technology and the performance. Sometimes we have to accept the future is about change and this is a change coming to other manufacturers whether we like it or not...dwindling oil reserves and high fuel prices will make hybrids of some sort more dominant than they are today. If Hybrids help to keep the muscle/sports cars around I am a supporter.

im not excited about the e-car shift, but i couldn't agree more with your statement. adapt and adjust

I understand that we have to accept the future. However I will not except contradictions as ridiculous as a V-12 hybrid super car.

i agree. honestly. i rather not pay extra for added weight on a FERRARI. i'd rather buy a twin turbo V8 599 if they ever made that.

Are you kidding me? This is about the worst car for a hybrid make over. How much miles would these car drive over one year? So little probably that a hybrid doens't make sence. It's just a no

Everyone is assuming the word "hybrid" is supposed to stand for clean and green. It only means the vehicle has more than one power source. Whats wrong with a Ferrari with an electric motor too? Tq will be instant from a stop, and the engineers can tune the engines to provide a higher overall output if they don't have to make it flexible at low revs. Get a grip, EVERY company will be doing something to improve MPG's. They have no choice...

Exactly. It would be greenwashing to have a V12 supercar and call it a hybrid for environmental reasons, but braking wastes energy. If you can convert and store it, and translate that efficiency into better performance, why argue with progress? Look at the BMW ED concept, performance on par with an E90 M3 with a three cylinder diesel engine.

and anyway, Clarkson from top gear already provided that a hybrid is not so efficient as you might think. He test a M3 against a prius (i think) anyway the m3 had better full mileage. believe it or not.
December 24, 2009 5:15 pm
It's about how you drive. He had the M3 in 6th at about 1500RPM the whole time and the prius driver was thrashing it. A prius would certainly get better mileage than an M3 if driven normally.

i think so too
the electric is not too fast
but its more environmental :D

I agree with Benz Man and Airbag - Hybrid doesn't have to be purely about improved economy and reduced emissions. There are actually some performance gains to be had from electric motor generators, especially the instant torque. Those arguing against hybrids are mostly affirming the environmentalist movement's push towards a world without performance cars. If we want supercars to exist in the future, we should be encouraging manufacturers to develop more efficient technologies, not criticising their efforts. I think their results will be far superior to the expectations of some posters on this website. It's still a Ferrari -they won't build something sluggish and miserable to drive.
This is the future guys - get used to it.
