Fantastic! Not related to this story but interesting how BMW and Mercedez are in such oposite positions in the sport.

MB racing has always been in a completely different league than BMW. Only Ferrari, Porsche, and Jag are comparable, imho.

I said under a related article that a one year contract is "pragmatic". If Michael said "three year deal" then there was'nt enough circumspection. One year gives you the motivation to drive "controlled-banzai". On the other hand, allowing yourself to project three years down the road motivates you to drive like a 90 year old pensioner with a cigar in his mouth! Enough said. isaacu

When has Schumacher ever driven like a 90 year-old pensioner with a cigar in his mouth? Even during his long tenure at Ferrari he was fiercely competitive. It's going to be wonderful to watch him drive again. It's going to be even better to see the enthusiasm he brought to the sport return. No one seemed happier to win than Schumi.

there actually was a British race driver in the '30s , i forgot his name, who drove with a cigar in his mouth when he knew he could not win the race.

alright. a twist in the plot. now f1 is really worth watching. button will have a hell of a fight with likes of schumacher and lewis. now when is mika hakkinen coming back?
