Rendered Speculation: BMW M5 F10

 Rendered Speculation: BMW M5 F10
BMW M5 F10 artist rendering / TeamSpeed.com

The folks over at M5Board.com and TeamSpeed.com have sent in these renderings of the upcoming BMW M5.  Shown in the drawings is a mid-size four-door that many would be pleased to drive.

While we like the conceptual drawings very much, we do not think the next M5 will have such a race-ready look.  Expect the front air intakes to be a bit less prominent, and the side sills to be less aggressive.  After all, this is a car meant to appeal to executives, and will likely have a more conservative appearance than the drawings depict.

The upcoming BMW M5 is expected to get a 500+ horsepower turbocharged engine that produces almost 500 ft-lb of torque.  BMW already uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo on V8 that generates 555 hp and 501 ft-lb on the BMW X5/X6 M.  This may be a suitable and more efficient replacement for the previously used V10.  A new transmission will be paired to the engine.  It will likely be similar to the seven-speed dual-clutch unit seen on the M5 25th anniversary car.

Aside from active aerodynamics, look for the car to get a carbon fiber roof, taller gearing, and LED daytime lights.  The next BMW M5 is expected to debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Looks more than ever like a 3 series. Not bad renderings though.

Ahhh yes. back the e39 philosophy. quietly styled and muscular with a possible nuclear bomb under the bonnet. that's what an M5 is all about!

It looks awesome but I am sad that the new generation M motors are not going to be as special and exclusive as they once were. Now it's more like a fleet V8 with different power levels.

Looks like a fat and heavy 3 series.. I love it. But I was hoping there would be a bit more distinction between the 5 and 3.

It looks exactly like an M3 sedan. Still, I'd hit it, twice.

I hope BMW makes the M5's design as aggressive. If I am going to step up to the M version, I want it to be easily distinguished from its less powerful siblings. As a previous M5 and M6 owner, I welcome the high torque numbers of the turbo V8. That was my biggest gripe in the previous cars. Can't wait to see the real thing!

WIN. Got my vote. Whoever made this should be working in Munich. But whatever the actual car looks like, it will be a HUGE improvement over the pathetic E60.

I'm just about ready for BMW to hire some of the folks that produce such renderings. Fresh talent needed as of yesteryear!

In ways nice, but like Audi BMW is following the trend that all their models will look the same, 3, 5, 7, etc... Pretty sad, atleast the E60 and E90 was different from each other. Now the new 5's that are about to come out is basically a preview of the new 3 only bigger, lol.

Unfortunately, that's a direct consequence of haters bashing Bangle for actually designing BMWs that are interesting to look at and bringing them out of the "same weener, different sizes" era! The many have spoken, they want boring design, VAG-style! On another note: who cares how it looks, I want the engine!!!

2011... long wait. why can't BMW release their ///M cars around the same time as the base models?

There's something very M3 about this M5! It's the headlamps, bonnet bulge and grille, the side shoulder line, the wheels and rear light cluster designs (even from rear hindquarter view) that spells it out. However, it's sick and wait till AC Schnitzer get their hands on it! Hope the Chris Bangled 'flame surface' series design horror ends right here! I got 5 on it!

Sadly all new BMWs look like 3 Series and honestly the new 7 doesn't look good on road at all.

Agree. Though the previous 5 and 7 series designs were controversial at first, they actually have more characters and style. Now they all look the same.

The 7 looks fantastic-ish on the road to me. I really didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. A few folks in my neighborhood snatched theirs up quickly, and I do enjoy seeing it..not to mention, the rear seating is of stellar comfort..I swore I was being molested but it's rather enjoyable.
