Kepler MOTION 800hp Hybrid Supercar to Debut in Dubai [Video]

Putting the eco in EcoBoost

Kepler Motors has released new information about the MOTION supercar, ahead of its official unveiling at the Dubai International Motor Show.

Designed to redefine "the paradigms of the supercar with unprecedented performance, style, exclusivity, safety and efficiency", the MOTION features Dual Powertrain Technology (DPT) and a unique all-wheel drive system. The front wheels are turned by a 250 hp electric motor, while the rear wheels are motivated by a heavily-modified 550 hp Ford EcoBoost twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6. This setup allows the MOTION to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

Besides the advanced powertrain, the MOTION boasts a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, an active suspension, active aerodynamics, launch control, a programmable track assistant system, and Continuous Carbon Ceramic (C3) AeroRotors from StopTech.

Production will be limited to 50 units, and the first deliveries are expected to occur in 2011.

Kepler Motors Makes Global Debut at 2009 Dubai International Motor Show

MOTION sets precedent for supercars of tomorrow

Dubai, UAE - December 15, 2009 - Kepler Motors, founded by World Speed Record Holder Russ Wicks, will unveil its groundbreaking MOTION supercar at this year's Dubai International Motor Show, December 16-20. Infusing state-of-the-art automotive engineering and applied science materials with the latest advanced technologies, the MOTION redefines the paradigms of the supercar with unprecedented performance, style, exclusivity, safety and efficiency.

The MOTION sets a new standard with all-wheel drive Dual Powertrain Technology (DPT) which provides a combined 800 hp. Power comes from a 550 hp, modified Ford EcoBoost twin-turbo 3.5 liter V6 driving the rear wheels acting independently of a 250 hp electric motor driving the front wheels. This unique AWD system launches the MOTION to 60 mph under 2.5 seconds with a top speed over 200 mph.

"We're delighted to host the worldwide debut of the Kepler Motors MOTION at the Dubai International Motor Show," said Wicks. "The region has a passion for ultra high performance, limited edition supercars, and presents the ideal platform to showcase the advanced technology and innovative features of the MOTION."

The MOTION is developed from the ground up by a team of hand-picked design engineers, aerodynamicists, product development, and manufacturing specialists and incorporates a number of leading edge technologies such as active suspension, active aerodynamics, launch control and a programmable track assistant system.

Lightweight, powerful, balanced and efficient, the MOTION features extensive use of carbon fiber composite materials for its monocoque chassis and body. The light, strong and highly impact-resistant structure provides a two-seat cabin designed to accommodate drivers of above average size in a stylish, sophisticated and aerodynamically efficient design.

The MOTION uses StopTech's new Continuous Carbon Ceramic (C3) AeroRotors on all four wheels to ensure smooth, fade-free stopping power. Comprising silicon carbide ceramic material reinforced with long, continuous carbon fibers, the unique C3 brake rotor material offers greater mechanical durability and unique heat transfer capabilities when compared to competitive carbon-ceramic rotors.

As only 50 MOTIONs will ever be produced, ownership will go to a small, exclusive and elite group of individuals. Each vehicle will be hand assembled and deliveries will start in 2011.

It looks too much like the Honda's 2003 Mid-engined HSC Tokyo concept car. With a limited 50 units, it makes us wonder how much it will actually cost. Any weight figures?

I see ALOT of Zonda in the cars silhouette.

Good looking car. Good sounding technology. Two thumbs up from me.

Two thumbs down from me, but I acknowledge that my opinion is no more valuable than yours. The style really does look like a Zonda trace. I wouldn't want two separate engine(motor)/drive-train/fuel systems in one car.

@v6s stink: I give props for them trying something new, especially something as ambitious as that, but I really hope they execute. If something goes wrong in that system it could be a real head-ache to fix. I kind of like how it borrowed a little bit from the Zonda. The Zonda's fighter jet shape with a cockpit sticking out on top is how a hypercar should look.

Dbhemoras, your Zonda comment is partially right but given that Zonda invented that design in the supercar world, its Pagani's design and it shouldn't be ripped off, least of all from a much slower electric car. This car won't be slow but clearly not as fast as a Zonda. Its a pretty obvious rip off here.

everyone complains on here wayy too much haha. cough** v6's stink ** honestly... be happy there are people out there willing to create new products and supercars. i'm liking the many different supercars coming out. recently. and who cares if most of them look alike... they clearly do that for aerodynamic purposes.

No ones complaining, but a rip off design is a rip off design and it shows a lack of creativity.

Great video, great name. The roofline has a strong Zondaesque design language strictly for aerodynamic reasons. Sexy design for a hybrid hypercar. However, there is nothing 'hybrid' about that engine soundtrack! Hope it all works as the future of hypercars may depend on Kepler's durability and range.

I don't get the point of these cars. yes great looking, great engineering... but in the end they'll be sitting in the garage of a 70year old billionaire. some might take it out for a spin ending up in lots of broken down parts or requiring immediate servicing etc etc. ow and there won't be a techie waiting for the repair anyhow. it'll take like a year to fix a small bolt. still nice looking car though. unless they've not already started the r&d, i wouldn't expect any delivery until 2012 :) 250hp electic motor. what kind of battery will they put in it?? +regen power on all moving parts?. nuclear mobile power plant? ow ow okay i get it it'll be like veyron flat out, 12 min of joy. well anyways i hope they'll overcome all these.

yeah... how eco is it? i think it is very cheap. and that twin turbo v6 drinks as much as a student at a party, right? useless

That front end was ripped right off the K1 Attack. I wish them all the best but to me it looks too much like a kitcar.
