I wouldn't say completely ugly... front is not bad and interior is quite nice. It's the back where it fails.

getting uglier as time goes by....and as i start and end this, its getting 0.0000001 percent uglier

Wow. I am astounded these are selling that well. Congrats Porsche.

Golden rule: ugly Porsche = best selling Porsche! (Cayenne now Panamera)
Don't blame their management for hand-picking the ugliest design model time and again. It makes absolute business sense.

Let's hear it for the 21st century Isaac Newton!!! (crowd goes wild)

maybe they have a really good market research team.
"hey, look at this Panamera sketch, it looks really nice ! "
"no way, the market demands a bigger butt, make that butt as big as you can ! "
can't wait for the second generation Panamera, i hope they go they same way they went with the next gen Cayenne. and the Panamera GTS will be great.

It is not problem of beauty-or-ugly, Newtonians. It is a problem of meaning. Porsche means ant thats why sells.

This is a testament that ANY car with a porsche logo on it can sell... if the fugly cayenne sold... it's all about the quality of the car over the looks.

Agreed. People might be put off at first by its looks, but really the only part that's bad about the Panamera is the back 15% of the car, just on the outside. Everything else is fine. The front looks good to me, the side as well. The interior is brilliant, not to mention the engineering. They should change their slogan to "Yeah, our cars have badunkadunks, but that just means more cushion for the pushin'. And our cars push."

Fat chick jokes aside I don't see anything wrong with this car (that a good aftermaker bumper can't fix). Seriously guys face the facts the panamera is an executive sedan for the "OLD" with a twist. It has a big turbo V8 to help the owner pretend they aren't in their mid 50's. This car isn't a show stopper CGT or a hardcore rallyist 959, its a businessman express. I guess that's what is selling these days.

I personally think the car is brilliant too. Quite frankly, the back doesn't bother me at all. I don't even think it's that ugly. I was just appealing to those who do. I would buy the Panamera Turbo in a heartbeat if I had the money. But then again, if I could afford the Panamera then I could probably extend myself a little more for the Aston Martin Rapide. And owning an Aston will be the closest I'll ever get to the One-77, the best car ever conceived by man.

For Singapore?!?!?! But according to the pic, that's a left hand drive!
December 14, 2009 6:43 pm
i remember a TV report about Japanese executives and Yakuza bosses who order left hand drive German cars just to be more special. maybe Singapore has the same trend. but that's probably just some press photo.

When I saw it in photos first, I didn't quite like it but I'd like to say that in person this car looks 'unique' in every term. You can't compare it to a CLS, but probably you can compare it with the Rapide. Anyway, I like it.

Saw one last week, its one of those cars that look better in the metal than in the photos.
December 15, 2009 5:29 am
why must Porsche make all their cars look like the 911 or the original 356?
December 15, 2009 2:57 am
Because they know how car looks. Kid's drawings still repeatedly same for a while too. Its a level problem of personality development.
December 15, 2009 1:55 pm
what the hell? 10000 in like less than 6 months? of production run? bloody hell porsche just made a toyota corolla
December 15, 2009 10:21 pm
wow. that's quite an accomplishment (for such an ugly car). i guess they have gathered enough loyal owners. now, imagine they start building that smaller speedster / convertible...
