GM Sells Saab Technology to Beijing Auto

BIG MISTAKE!

Unless you want Saab to end this is the best thing that could have happened. It gives Saab money to operate and keep it's doors open by selling outdated tech to the Chinese while making it possible to extend the search for a new owner. I would prefer to see Saab owned by Spyker rather than Koenigsegg. Spykers and Saabs share at least a quirky design history and that makes them interesting. It also would be good for Spyker to have the facilities, platforms and the additional production benefits. Why can't they just do the same deal with BAIC as a partner and buy Saab together?

Salvation is not going to come from Spyker. A mass-production manufacturer cannot survive with a production of less than 1 million cars. Saab needs to partner with a large volume manufacturer, preferably a German brand that can share a lot of technology like platforms and engines. BMW or Merc would make a good candidate I think, they could use Saab it to expand in the lower market segments to compete with VW. With enough cash and creativity I'm sure they can make Saab a successful brand again.

wow! let the Chinese takes over! they loaded with cash & can buy almost anything in the world. wwe'll see more & more shopping done by Chinese & Indian in the forseeable future...they've loaded with cash, & cash is KING! :-)

OMG...! The Chinese will now make more SAABabies than all rabbits in town, completely dilute the brand value, and to top it all, they will be poor in quality, workmanship and ethics.

Big butts in 21-st century GM have no idea that immorality which is normal in their business culture will never works long in product development based economy. There is are reasons of their own bankruptcy. Now Saab is entering to his future where Italian restaurants are kept by Chinese.
