Fab Design Porsche Panamera

 Fab Design Porsche Panamera
Fab Design Porsche Panamera - 1600

This FAB Panamera makes history for the Swiss-based tuner as the first non-Mercedes-Benz car to come out of its garage. Usually, favoured subjects include the mother brand as well as McLaren and Maybach. FAB says while it is the first, it will not be the last, so we can expect more similar projects in future.

The car's exterior consists of a new front end with big air inlets, a circumferential front spoiler, a carbon fibre bonnet, flared fenders/wheel arches, new side skirts and a redesigned rear spoiler. An integrated rear diffuser is split by three trapezoidal tailpipes. A carbon fibre rear wing is fitted to improve aerodynamics. The suspension was lowered by 20mm which advances the cause of better handling even further.

FAB says the 4.8-litre turbo engine will be modified to a great extent resulting in an expected maximum power output of up to 515kW (700hp). It currently makes a standard maximum of 368kW (500hp) in the Panamera Turbo. A sports braking system is installed to stop the large 22-inch wheels whenever the need arises.

The FAB Panamera will be limited to 15 units only.

FAB Design Porsche Panamera: A Full Broadside

FAB Design has refined the new Porsche Panamera and turned the conservative, standard product into a dream car.

The tuners from Mellingen have expanded their programme from one originally limited to Mercedes to now include the FAB Exclusive Line. Here, mainly in accordance with customers' wishes, small numbers - limited to no more than 15 - of other luxury brands are developed. In such a way were Maybach and McLaren refined. The FAB Panamera is, therefore, the first - but definitely not the last - vehicle from this new series that doesn't come from the house of Daimler.

The sport limousine modified for the first time by FAB catches the eye mainly because of its extrovert Wide Bodykit. Its made of a sportily redesigned front element with powerful cooler intakes and an all encompassing front spoiler. The front hood and other external accessories are naturally made of real carbon.

The eye of the beholder falls immediately on the widened wing that takes in the rear passenger doors so elegantly that the vehicle seems more like a coupé. In addition the side skirts were made to fit the design and connect the line of the front apron with the rear of the vehicle - on which is enthroned a completely new form of rear spoiler that receives the optimum air stream from the roof spoiler and that ideally fits the vehicle's performance. Beneath it can be found the FAB rear skirt with an integrated diffuser and three trapeziform, centrally placed endpipes.

The carbon fibre rear wings mentioned above are designed to improve the output at the rear of the vehicle, then the engineers from Mellingen haven't let the performance go unnoticed. After the modification the 4.8 litre turbo delivers up to 700 PS. By mounting a lowering module the vehicle's centre of gravity is lowered by around 20 millimetres. A sports braking system that peeps out from behind the three-part, 22 inch spoked rims takes care of the appropriate negative acceleration.

Actually with this body kit it seems to me that the back tail looks better. But still, it's an awfully ugly car. What would u rather have? The Panamera or the Quattroporte, or the new Rapide?

Quattroporte is ugly, Rapide is boring, i'd take the upcoming Audi RS7.

When you drive the stock panamera you can not believe how they can make such a huge vehicle handle like a 4 person sportscar. This car is amazing. I can see why they have already sold 10,000 units. This car is more fun driving than a Ferrari 599.

more fun than a 599, have you even driven both of them to write that statement?

:)). Seems like no turner can make this car look good. They tried every way, but always failed. It's natually too ugly.

I think your wrong, if "some" tuner were to arise and shrink the back somewhat I think that would fix the "uglyness" problem. Its almost as if when they originally designed it they cut the back 30cm of it with a high powered laser leaving the back out of proportion. Hey I could be wrong but I think this thing is salvagable. Also would it have killed them tho place the taillights lower?

the original concepts looked a lot better : http://www.luxuryissues.com/cms/uploads/porsche_calendar_09-06-508x359.jpg http://www.autocult.com.au/img/gallery/full/997GT3542.jpg but then Wiedeking wanted more headroom in the back for people above 1.90m. i hope the second generation Panamera will look more like the original designs.

this is how the car would have looked like without Wiedeking's meddling : http://www.webhush.com/wp-content/uploads/porsche-panamera-in-india.jpg

the front bumper aint so bad if they remove the black accents. But the rear is a little over done and doesn't appear to fit the cars image.

I'm with scratchy on most points here. The gills on the side are ugly and don't have much to do with the function of the vehicle. The only details which approach desireability were all scooped from Mansory's kit at the rear bumper. This = Fail.

how much uglier can this car be. are the tuners so f...ing blind? what are they trying to make out of this, "22nd century" art?

I not a fan of FAB design but I have seen this in person in Dubai Motor show and it actually improves the appearance of this ugly car. I think that the rear is the worst in the panamera and FAB at least succeeded in making it "interesting".
