343bhp? That is just as quick as the Z4 M roadster. I wonder whether the 4.0 V8 will found its way in Z4's big engine bay and a fixed hardtop?

Very, very, very, very unfortunately the V8 is not expected to make its way into the Z4. I don't think I can stress enough how unfortunate that is. It's too bad, because with the V8 in this car and it would be up against the big dogs (Aston V8 Vantage, Porsche Carrera...).

So much hope for a hot M Roadster since the other M droptops are a regular fourseater convertible with tons of M badges. I guess BMW knew that the Z4 M and the original Z3 M were never a hot seller since only the enthusiasts buys them. I love the current Z4 M, I think it is brilliant, if not for its cramped interior and its hard ride. But I think they should continue build a proper M coupe or roadster that is naturally aspirated. Twin turbo M cars lacked character and soul but just a tuned regular existing units!

The new Z4 has a big engine bay, but the hood/bonnet is very low. The new M3's V8 has a big airbox on top, this is the reason why the M3 which has a taller hood/bonnet still needs a hood bulge. I guess the only way to fit the V8 into the new Z4 is to give it a huge ugly hood bulge more than double the size of the one on the M3. On the bright side, its good that the sDrive35is is more than just an M Package, at least it has some extra power to match.

True, the engine life will be longer and not highly stressed like the naturally aspirated with cheaper to maintain.

That hood bulge is not their because of size. You are mistaken. Its their for cooling.

This car might be fun to drift but will never do well on the track. Nice car but not for true enthusiasts.

It isn't for the track though, so it's ok IMO. It's a great car for cruising at high speeds. And look at it! It's gorgeous!

Sdrive... what?? I hate BMW nomenclature.

Sport-Drive. Who cares about the nomenclature. BMW finally released a sports package that adds more horsepower!!! It's been years!

Not only is this by far the best looking BMW out today, but it's up there with the 507 and the old Mille Miglia. And it's quick too. Definitely adding this to my dream car garage, replacing the TT-RS (sorry Audi). I just wish that the US would import the magic juice (98 octane, the car equivalent of red bull) that they have in Europe so we could also have the full 340. But 335 isn't that bad, I guess.

Wow, that bodykit really does turn it into a looker. BUT, the TT RS is on par with this Z4 but lighter and even better to look at. (not being a fanboy, just being honest.)

Better than rubbish TT-RS. Great car. Check mate Audi.

I agree, and a lot of fun too because it doesn't have a quattro that understeers a lot! However I think the turbocharged inline five-cylinder might sound better. Are we witnessing the death of naturally aspirated engine since most engines are with kompressors, turbos, hybrids, hydrogens and soon all electric?

I think it looks amazing. BMW is probably one of the last manufacturer to give up to naturally aspirated engines and introduce turbos. Looking at the 335i reviews it's not so bad. The turbo lag is almost nonexistent and the performance is increased while the fuel consumption decreases. I was totally against turbocharged engines, but now I am really curious on driving a BMW bi-turbo.

Do something about the weight BMW

I hate z4 with passion. I am over 6 feet tall and I can't fit in this thing with the roof up. I wanted to buy it but I will not go for show and no comfort. BMW keeps pushing engines further back for balance but no room for tall people. When I look at side profile it reminds me of clown's boot. I think they should have the seats behind rear axel for more room and 100% weight distribution. Hate z4.

One of the very few good-looking BMWs of today, in my opinion.

Its a M roadster lite. Still a true M would have made more sense but I can't complain its a great car.

hey, finally. bmw managed to break the 100hp/litre on this engine..... with two turbos. yey, congrats, 340 hp great achievment. ok ok, nice engine. i like that line in the article though "However, US customers will have to make do with only 246kW (335hp)." if we think about it, not even us people, in europe dont have 340..maybe 330, to the wheel. so maybe the americans will have 315-320. a trageddddyyy, what do ya say yanks? i think you should stick a KnN filter in it and get at least 15-20 hp from it. :P 340hp, big deal. i wanna see this with the v8 and 420 bhp. and yeah, someone already said it...THE HARDTOP.

"not even us people, in europe dont have 340..maybe 330, to the wheel." More like 250-260 rear-wheel hp.

If it can't have the M3 engine, I guess this is the best option. Given that the E92 335i Coup? is faster on the track than the E85 Z4 M, I guess this will be a very good car, but unfortunately not as "pure" as the good old I6.

damn efficient engine - 9l to 100 km and 210g per km. Had my eyes set on the 3 litre, straight six twin turbo for years now. Nothing Audi offers would tempt me away from it. Still be happy with a 2nd hand 135i sometime down the line :)
