9ff GT9-R Details and Photos Finally Released
9ff GT9-R 11.12.2009 - 1100

Fastest production car ever?

After over a year of waiting, German tuner firm 9ff has finally released new details and updated photos of their impressive 9ff GT9-R.  The 1120 horsepower car will be limited to twenty units, each available worldwide.

Using a 4.0-liter six-cylinder Boxer engine, the car is capable of a 0-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds.  300 km/h is reached in 15.8 seconds, en route to a 414 km/h (257.2mph) top speed.  If accurate, the 9ff GT9-R would become the fastest production car built, beating out the 412.28 km/h (256.2mph) posted by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, despite a pending second world record run by Keating TKR, which has already hit 418.6km/h (260.1mph)

Those who do not need quite that much power can take a 987-hp model built for the track, and just a hair slower than the fully tuned car.  Still, there is a 750-hp version on offer that clears 300 km/h (186.4mph) in 20 seconds.

The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or sequential gearbox.  The five-speed Tiptronic is an option for those purchasing the 750-hp variant.

9ff claims no two vehicles will be identical, with a full slate of customization available on the street legal car.  Multiple aerokits are being made available to guarantee this.

Pricing was not revealed on the 9ff GT9-R, but if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

If those figures are accurate this is one scary car... the engine is equally impressive, 6 cylinder 1100+ hp is unbelievable! This should've been porsche's replacement to the CGT

christ all mighty. 6 cylinders? bahhahha thats NUTS!. 16 cylinders for the veyron and 6 for this... thats just unacceptable, but honestly, the veyron is def the car i'd have between the two.. comfort, quality, brand, fit and finish and still capable of pwning. this... well looks light, uncomfortable, and quite scary really.. lol

Wow, 1120bhp. That is like a Veyron with a Twingo RS engine. Now that is what you call power!

a video about the first version of the 9ff GT9 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ffYokJgg5s it's a great car, but you can also see what makes they Veyron special when you compare it against the other hyperspeed cars.

Are production modified cars allowed to be called production cars?
December 12, 2009 4:48 pm
 scratchy996 scratchy996
this is not a modified existing production car, it's an independently engineered car that uses some Porsche parts.
December 12, 2009 5:43 pm
 Joe_Limon Joe_Limon
If it isn't a modified existing production car Porsche would sue them for copying their design.

like they sue RUF ? http://formulatotal.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/2008-ruf-ctr3-4.jpg

RUF isn't a car company, they modify cars just like Callaway, Edo, Hennesey and all those other tuning companies.

"Ruf Automobile GmbH is a German automobile manufacturer." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruf_Automobile Ruf is a manufacturer and they also have a tuning division. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HboR3Mwx8HI at 2:10 if you understand German.

Ya read the next line haha "Rufs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis" That is what I call a tuning company. Automotive manufacturers in my opinion do not use already manufactured cars as the basis of new ones period.
December 12, 2009 11:18 pm
 scratchy996 scratchy996
they don't use already manufactured cars , they just buy parts and convert them. a production car is a complete car with VIN and everything. some manufacturers buy unmarked (without VIN ) raw parts from others and modify them for their cars. 9ff uses the engine block of the 911 turbo , but 90% of the parts in the engine are their own design. Ruf use parts of the engine and parts of the chassis of the 911 on their cars. Gumpert uses Audi parts on the Apollo. Saleen are tuners but they also manufacture their own car. how hard is that to comprehend ?

 Joe_Limon Joe_Limon
How is it hard to comprehend that this is a modified Porsche and not a stand alone car? Some companies slap on a new paintjob and rims and call it modified, some companies swap entire drive trains. This is still built up from a Porsche therefore it is modified, end of story.

I get what you're saying Joe but im with scratchy here, i do see 9ff and Ruf as independant manufacturers despite some part usage. That said, what you consider a manufacturer here is a grey area and despite Automobile certification for Ruf from the German government(Like saleen in America) it all comes down to interpretation/perception.

Yes, and Skoda is a Volkswagen tuner! ^^ They are both manufacturer. 9ff has a tuning-range for Boxter, 911, Cayenne and soon for Panamera to. But they even developed an outstanding Conception with Porsche-parts, but a complete own-developed chassis. The Veyron uses VW-parts too, you can trust me!

Ya and Spyker uses Audi engines. There is a difference between using parts and using the whole car lol.

yes yes, nice specs... but i wouldnt drive that on the streets, even if i had a gazillion, whatever. i mean lookt at it, it is frankesporsche.. a cayman or a boxster raped a russian lada... or the other way around. it is the 911 smallest uglier brother...sister...adopted...and then thrown into the streets. but hey, fast car 9ff, congrats!

This car is just crazy. So I take it that the people @ 9ff were responsible enough, to spread the HP wealth among all 4 wheels. Or are they taking the mad scientist approach and cramming it all to the rear wheels?

I don't tjink, no, I'm sure 9ff can't offer the same comfort as the Bugatti. And still Bugatti as fast as 9ff but with much comfort
December 14, 2009 4:14 am
 scratchy996 scratchy996
that's why the Bugatti is so special, there are many that can build a fast car in a shed , but no one comes close to the Veyron in terms of luxury, comfort, real world usability and stability at high speeds.

That isnt a production car, not when there is only 20 being built. I highly doubt there is a production line for a massive... 20 cars...

it's a production car, but it's not a series production or mass production car.

It might be the worlds fastest car but it's also the car with the least pulling power- uncool name, looks like a porsche- girls would be more impressed with a Bugatti or even a Ferrari, Lamborghini

i'm sure guys who buy this car won't use it to get girls. if someone can afford this car, then he surely has other panty removers in his arsenal.

9ff are known for tuning the living daylights out of Porsche GTs. Tuning outfits that want recognition as a manufacturer must build uniquely-designed cars from scratch, irrespective of the fact that they use unmarked cars or not. There's no point churning out rebodied Porsches with banzai wings and turbos and slapping a ridiculous price tag on it and expect respect. If Porsche accredits them like Merc did with AMG, then it's a totally different ball game. Sick figures though.
December 14, 2009 12:22 pm
 scratchy996 scratchy996
making a completely new car from scratch is too expensive. not many small companies can do that. Wiesmann are manufacturers but they use a lot of BMW parts. Gumpert use Audi parts. Devon GTX is a production car, but it's based on the Viper. if the registration papers say it's a production car , then it is one. the 9ff GT9's engine uses only Porsche's empty engine block and that is modified too. 90% of the components in the car are 9ff's engineering. only the front of the car are modified Porsche body parts. they could make custom parts and make it look different from a 911, but they keep that look because it's a good marketing strategy.

Not to mention it looks great(in relation to the Porsche style exterior parts they use).

Joe i think ur wrong on this one buds. This has a tube frame chassis designed in house, other than the headlights and tail lights everything is custom. The engine is practically just the block from porsche every thing else is custom.
