Alanqa Motor Company Launched in Abu Dhabi with Military and Commercial SUVs
Alanqa Motor Company BodyGuard - 700

A new company in Abu Dhabi will introduce several rugged military and commercial vehicles at the Dubai Motor Show next week.  A tipster sent us these photos of two Alanqa Motor Company vehicles, the BodyGuard and the V-Guard.

One of the vehicles is built with the Corvette's 7.4-liter V8 engine that produces 620 horsepower.  The 2,400 kilogram (5291 lbs) truck is able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in seven seconds, on its way to a 210 km/h (130.5 mph) top speed.  Both top speed and sprint times are likely less impressive when the car is loaded to its 4000 kg (8819 lbs) maximum weight.

With a 650 mm ground clearance, it is nice to see the GM 2-speed 4x4/4x2 transfer case, to enable policing in off-road situations.  With a 200-liter fuel capacity, the vehicle has a range of 750 km (466 mi).  This translates to a whopping 26.7-liters per 100 km, or roughly 8.8mpg.

Production of the vehicles should be limited to about 100 per year, with prices ranging from $120,000 to $277,000, depending on how much customization is required.  We expect to hear more about Alanqa, and their vehicles, after their December 15 media debut at the 10th Dubai Motor Show.

As a potential good (product) to the public; I think it's a waist of money. As a full-on hardcore military vehicle, it maybe a good investment.

This looks like a Dakkar Rally dune buggy. Being the inventors and sponsors of most of the IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan you would think they'd be able to design a car capable to withstand one. This looks like a even a 9mm pistol could penetrate it...Lame, I'll take a German military vehicle any day.
