Totally boring. Same interior as the other models. The actual CLS has a unique interior which differences it a lot from the C- and E-Class but this is just...disapointing. I´d go for the old CLS which IMO had more style.

Basically the E class interior. The current CLS's interior is so unique, distinctive and classy, what happened to this one? Unbelievable.

have you ever driven one? the current model has exactly the same centre console as the one from the W211 E-Class, the instrument cluster is the same and the air con controls are the same. the only difference is there's a big slab of wood rather than a strip.
don't get me wrong, i love the current CLS, but distinctive? distinctive my a$$...

Are you kidding? You know straight from the moment you sit in a CLS, it feels completely different. If you can't tell for yourself I won't try to convince you otherwise. Have you even ever been in one..

i've driven a CLS, and i've sat in (but not driven) both a facelift and prefacelift W211 E-Class.
look at pictures if you don't believe me. they share a lot of parts lol

They share quite a few interior bits. The center stack is lifted straight from the e-class its based upon.

nah, Sub39h is right. they are identical, the CLS just has more wood and different door panels
December 9, 2009 8:15 pm
The fact that they share parts has very little to do with the contrasting interior designs. The differences extend far more than a slab of wood. It's really not that hard to see..

I'll put it this way. If you tallied up all the part-numbers in the interior of the two cars (E-CLS), they would share more part numbers than they would have different. Besides the "big slab of wood" and the molding associated with it there is little else to differentiate the two. They even share the same HVAC box. All the "hard points" in the interior are the same. The most noticeable difference are the frameless doors and the "sporting" environment they create.

WTF IS THAT! The CLS is supposed to ooze style and elegance, that is a drab E-Class interior! Mercedes you idiots, you've successfully messed up a perfect car!
December 7, 2009 6:47 pm
Compared to the current one this looks like 20 years long step backward.
December 7, 2009 6:53 pm
Totally agree. I dont like that sharpened style cue that Mercedes is following currently. Lacks class and elegance
December 8, 2009 5:45 pm
From the nav screen down it looks like a slab of granite or a skyscraper. The elegant sporty CLS is gone, on the inside anyway.

I just hope that they didn't cover it up because this is a mule with an E-class dashboard, but the real CLS will have its unique interior. I mean I cannot believe that Mercedes will take away so much from the CLS, and be so cheap to actually put the same interior in this as in the E-class. It's already enough that they share the same platform.

The current CLS is the only car which does not need a new model, it's so beautiful.
December 7, 2009 7:38 pm
uhm... even though I love the new Mercedes interiors, I kinda expected something different from the new CLS....
December 7, 2009 7:39 pm
How horrible! They took the climate controls off the sls, everything else off the e-class! The current cls had e-class parts in it (the nav, climate controls, gauges) but the dash was unique. This one is not. The cls is supposed to be smooth, curvy and sexy. How does a boxy interior match those things? Mercedes, I hope this is redeemable somehow. Right now, I feel disappointed. And I'm a Mercedes owner....

This interior could work on the straight-edged E class, but this car is all about eloquent curves and rounded shapes, it just doesn't flow with the rest of the car. They should have given it an S class interior, you'd expect it at this overly-priced range
December 7, 2009 8:06 pm
This interior is the only thing I hated about the latest E-class, and they put it into their prettiest car? unbelievable!
I'd go with you guys, the current CLS is better, and honestly I didn't expect MB to build a better one under this economic climate.
December 7, 2009 8:11 pm
Totally disapointing. Aside from the distinctive exterior, the other reason to purchase the CLS was the unique and plush interior. And... this is always how M-B justified the higher price of the CLS. So... what are we getting now??? An E-Class with more cramped rear quarters at a higher price? Not for me, thanks!

a 4.0 L twin turbo, with over 540 hp? im hot curios mercedes, as your engines generally suck; especially that 5.5, 380 hp, or the magnificent 6.2, 450hp.... it is like buying them from the americans. as for this interior, ..so boring.
December 7, 2009 9:12 pm
@ WCF "competitors from Aston Martin" c'mon the CLS is never near aston martin market, and AM has no intention to down market their rapide to CLS level.
December 7, 2009 10:46 pm
I diss agree with the current cls not needing a update, it looks like a upside down banana, second of all the new cls will look like a four door e coupe.. Wait there already is a E four door.
I how ever adore Mercedes but the Cls was always been a hit or miss.
And I too agree the interior on the curent one is much
more better looking.
