Aston Martin Rapide Pricing Starts at ?139,950, New Images Released
Aston Martin Rapide

The Aston Martin Rapide will go on sale for £139,950 in the UK, according to the car manufacturer.  Along with the announcement, the company released a new series of photos featuring the powerful car.

Magna Steyr, the almost-owner of Opel, will manufacture the car in Austria.  The car will be built in the new, 17,000 m2 Aston Martin Rapide Plant with a "fusion of modern technology, advanced manufacturing processes and hand-built craftsmanship."  The total build time for one vehicle takes roughly 220 man hours.

Roughly 2,000 four-seat Rapides are expected to be assembled in 2010.  Each car uses a 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 470 horsepower and up to 600 Nm of torque.  The 0-60 mph time is estimated at 5.1 seconds, with top speed reaching 188 mph.

The company will formally launch production of the car during the first three months of 2010.  On sale now, first delivery of the Aston Martin Rapide will begin as early as April 2010.

As the eagerly awaited Aston Martin Rapide four-door sports car goes through final engineering and testing phases before being launched in quarter one 2010, Aston Martin confirms UK pricing.

The price of the Rapide will start from £139,950 in the UK which features an impressive level of standard specification including: Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system tailored specifically for Rapide, heated memory seats, dual cast brakes and Adaptive Damping System.

The Rapide is Aston Martin’s first production four-door sports car encapsulating the practicality of a car with extra doors and fusing it with the trademark sports car dynamics synonymous with modern Aston Martins.

Customer deliveries will commence at the beginning of quarter two 2010, and it will be the first sports car to be hand-built at the Aston Martin Rapide Plant in Graz, Austria. The new 17,000 m2 building has been designed to reflect the quality levels established in Gaydon since 2003 permitting the fusion of modern technology, advanced manufacturing processes and hand-built craftsmanship. Each Rapide will take approximately 220 man hours to build and will benefit from timeless craft skills just like the existing range; DBS, DB9, V12 and V8 Vantage do at Gaydon.

It is anticipated that +/- 2000 Rapides will be built in the first year attracting a high proportion of new customers to the brand. Core to this trend is the mix of huge attention to detail throughout the car, ample accommodation for up to four adults and the spacious boot (317 litres with seats up, and 886 litres with seats down) while maintaining Rapide’s elegant beauty and sports car profile.

The Rapide is on sale now available to order from the Aston Martin dealership network around the world.

Cool, an Aston that is a bit different from the rest of them: it has two more seats. I really don't understand Aston Martin. They make cars that all look exactly the same and perform pretty much the same. It's boring. Every Aston is just like the rest of them. Every time they come up with a "new" model, it's just a new mix of an old engine and an old chassis and has exactly the same exterior as the older models have. What's the point? Even Porsche has more diversity in their model range.

It's true that all Astons look remarkably the same, but IMHO Aston Martin currently makes the most beautiful cars that have ever been produced in the last 50 years. 50 years ago was the 300SL Gullwing, and now it's every Aston.

+1 dbehmoaras, Astons are the best looking cars on the road today. I would throw the Merc CL and the Alfa 8C in the mix too but something looks off with the Rapide. I wish they'd tried to emulate the profile of the 1960s DB5, I think it would be better suited to being lengthened for four doors than the DB9/DBS profile they've used. Just my $0.02

Okay I am sold with the Rapide. It looks really good. But I believe you'll get more power and toys from the Panamera. This or the Quattroporte? Hmm

if you like "passion" (i.e. car disintegrating while you drive it) get the Quattroporte.

Yup, I like the gentle lines of the Quattroporte before the facelift. Anything that isn't aggressive. Unfortunately I am not on the budget or have any thoughts for such a car. A used CLS 55 OMG Kompressor seemed like a good bargain too.

Interior is old, exterior design is even older, when AM will come out with an all new design? and why not fit the 510hp engine instead of 470hp?

I wish AM would build a car that is as beautiful as they are now but doesnt ride like a 1972 Ford Pickup with out shocks. Thats what kept me at mercedes, instead of buying a new Vantage.

Aston Martin seem displaced in the DB9's shadow with 'all-new' model, Rapide, even with four doors. Bespoke heritage has been lost in translation here despite blue chip interior finish.

Never thought id say this about an aston but other than the exterior styling, leather work and wood work this looks pretty cheap. In comparison to the Panamera. I don't know it just looks too plastic and ford for an Aston, i really expected more.

Expensive bastard. Pretty though. The rich have it made, except personality/character wise apperantly. Everyone deserves a car this pretty imo. A Panamera is probably a much better car. The best sedan in the world perhaps.

Dated design, in and out. Performance? Less the the panamera. Looks like? A sperm whale with its mouth open sweeping the ocean water for plankton.
