Nice Study, but made of Unoptainium. even a mix of Carbon fibre, aluminum and other costly materials result in a weight that is more than a Golf Mk I with a four cylinder cast iron engine... styling is very much what Volvo showed a couple years and owners ago

It may not weigh as little as the Mk I but, I bet will out perform it in a crash test.

2.44 L/100km is not 70 mpg, it's 96.5 mpg

true , it's ~96.5 mpg US or ~115.7 mpg Imperial.

I have a feeling it's 2.44 average over all and 70mpg on the freeway only.

It's NOT the most fuel-efficient car in the world. The Chevrolet Volt gets 230 mpg city and at least 150 mpg combined !!!!

Unlike of Ford's recent revelation, the interior of that UP! is upscale too. Nice car even if looking at that UP! from windows of quit nice Passat CC.

Finaly samoone made a hybrid car with a diesel engine! Why put electric motor with petrol engine, that spend more fuel and money, and kill all benefits of it, when diesels are firstly made for fuel economy!!!!

petrol engines run at higher revs, making it easier to power a generator to recharge the battery. also hybrids were primarily made for the American market, where they don't like diesels.
