Actually, I?m dissapointing... I had high expectations about this one, and it was another bland design... I thought it would be more agressive... just a big A4, what a shame...

not really sure why you would expect something exciting and revolutionary when they've been following the same design philosophy for decades. audis have evolved the least, design-wise, of the major luxury marques over the last quarter century. that's the way it will remain, no basis to think it will change.

I straight up don't like Audi more and more with every new car that's come out since 2007... (With the exception of the Q7, and the R8 and it's derivatives obviously) Used to be a fan of all they had to offer, but everything they now produce looks Japanese, bloated, and plain. To quote Paulds: "Just a big A4" Very weak.

not a fan of the looks, but the power figures (especially when considering the CO2 emissions) are very impressive. no V12 TDI tho? i'm disappointed Audi... tho maybe the best is being saved for last.

its elegant... but its not amazing... i do like it, however i think audi are dividing this from the up coming A7 by making the 8 reserved, whereas the A7 will be a more daring sports derived super saloon. for its in a new segment, and does not have to correlate with previous models... i look forward to it... especially if it gets an interior like this, a bit of a departure from the norm, but still very nice!

I get what you're saying but audi can't afford to go "conservative" on what is suppose to be their signature car (A8), the one that makes a statement to BM, MB,n Jag and most importantly Us, the public... instead they failed miserably with the styling and they even failed at what they do best, interiors, although the interior is nice the 7series beat them this time on that department and every other aspect as well.

I was hoping for a revelation, but all I got is an elongated Audi A4 :( Oh well, I guess I'll have to see it in the flesh to fully appreciate it. Loving the interior, though!

Something tells me that the A8, although it may not look special here (I happen to disagree, but whatever), will look so much better on the street, seen directly by the eye rather than in a picture. The Panamera was the exact same for me.

u must have gone crazy trying to compare this garbage with panamera.. panamera is a piece of art and technology combined... but this crap is just a piece of stupidity and unoriginality combined... just by looking at its head light make me laugh.. not to mention about its cheap interior and mediocre design.. they want to establish the direction of using same design for all their cars like how porsche does... but i am sorry to say that audi made all their cars look like crap and so unwanted by doing this but porsche made all their cars a real classic...

Cheap interior..you must be kidding. Please describe in what aspect exactly this car has a cheap interior. It's much better than anything BMW and Mercedes are coming out with these days. And I have to add, you must have gone crazy trying to compare a hearse to this A8.

first of all, the interior is copied straight off from S-class.. and it's using a lot of cheap looking plastic buttons.. it just reminds me of lexus instead of european high end sedan... regarding your remark about panamera.. ignorance is bliss... congratulations..

You clearly don't know what an S class interior looks like. This interior is an evolution of the current A8's interior. Ignorance is bliss? Same to you.

You're just a fanboy. The interior is way better than the S-Class and just as good if not better than the 7er. And the Audi line-up looks way better than the Porsche lineup for sure. And even so, the Panamera is not up against the A8, it's up against the upcoming A7, which will again trump the Panamera. You also completely misunderstood what I said about the Panamera. What I said was that the Panamera looks a lot better in person than in photos, and this will probably be the case with the A8. And it's definitely not a piece of stupidity because the engineering of the car is superior to all the others in its class. The worst part is, you don't like it because you don't understand it. It's not supposed to be some wackjob car. It was designed to be quiet and conservative, and that's what it is. What Audi did was keep to its mantra. It's a shame that fanboys have to be so ignorant and stubborn.

What do Americans know about high-quality interiors? Look at those American cars, save the European division :( And as far as I know, Mercedes S-Class has the highest quality of materials inside. The Audi A5 has some cheap bits of materials in its interior.. Let's hope Audi kept its high standard when making the interior for this car.

what would it look like without the number plate on the front?, which is not required in my parts. it would be quite shocking with all that grill exposed. the styling cues are very disproportionate to the overall size of the car, a very poor effort.

Way to plain. And like most said. Over-sized A4. They need to put more effort into design.

I got a feeling that this car isn't all-new. Remember, it is VW-Audi Group. They're known for producing its cars on either various platform and seldom on new ones unless it is a high volume seller. The latest car is just a re-bodied A8 with silly LED headlights. So it is really is a Golf 5.5 and not a Golf 6 or a Porsche 996 to a Porsche 997. What do you guys think? Audi has lost its mojo

Just sharing a bit of my thoughts (although nobody asked). The design is starting to grow on me, even though it is still a bit too conservative for me. Was hoping for something more progressive and beautiful. The Audi of the next decade??? Interior seems nice enough. And although Audi has been working on the weight distribution and handling dynamics, the picture of that engine jutting out ahead of the front wheels really doesn't do it for me. The old Audi 5000's had the same set up, but they were so much lighter, it didn't seem to have the same drawbacks.

I have to agree with the view that the step forward stylistically hasn't been great enough compared to it's predecessor. This feels like the mistake Jaguar made in not making the previous XJ look different enough to the car it replaced so all the other innovations were overlooked. Impressive emissions stats though. I wonder how much better they would be still if Audi ditched Quattro for the base TDI... It's really not needed on that model and adds extra weight.

Despite all the pros/cons; likes/dislikes, the A8 seems to be a concept of combining Luxury; Comfort; power-handling; safety and not to forget the efficiency. They've applied the Quatro AWD while put the effort on reducing the weight and squeezes the engines power/efficiency on their Luxury cars production. It's things that has never crossed other brands designer's minds. Good job Audi!!

WOW, those are the most agressive headlights ever on an Audi. Seeing one in black at night with the LED's on only would make you jizz in your pants.

No he hasn't - The all LED headlights are different to the Bi-Xenon/LED ones... Upper spec models consist of all LED headlights.

No what I sarcastically meant was without the fancy light, the car is just an ordinary A8. All of you got duped thinking that it is an all new car but it isn't!

I like this car! Sure it's just a big A4, but at least it's based on car that's actually good looking! I wouldn't say Audi are bland cars, rather I'd use the term conservative. I don't like the way the dash in the A4 is angled around the driver and I had similar concerns that Audi would bring this into the A8, but thankfully they've found sense and designed an interior that is functional and looks good too. I wouldn't be complaining about Audi designs at all when you consider what BMW is doing. The X1 (is that what it's called?) looks like the front of it melted in the sun, the z4 is a collection of mismatched curves. The last 5 series had funny headlights where a bit of the light swept around to the side as if the designers had slipped a paintbrush or something. As for Mercedes, I would buy one in case it broke down on the way back from the dealership or likewise in case a part of the trim in the interior fell off in my hand. They don't build 'em like they used to! At least Audi are consistent, beautifully built, if slightly bland, perfect motorway munching cruisers with a good badge and a good image. My Hat goes off to the designers for resisting the modern day pressure to come up with outlandish and whacky designs (BMW listen up) to attract attention and generate market share.

I really think Audi is going in the wrong direction ! Ok .. the car is full of technology, cool line, LED .. but it's a long wheel base A6 or a longer A4. How can you compete with the S Klasse or 7 Series when you offer a bigger and more expensive A6? Too bad Audi .. too bad !
