Of course, the rest of the world doesn't trust us here in the US due to the majority here not living within their mean. Look at the situation here in US. The dollar index shows our USD is on the way to go belly up...

Europe has it's speculants too, but no one in Europe wants to buy this expensive Toyota, it makes no sense for speculants to jump on it.

I agree it has less prestige than compared to Ferrari, lol, or Mclaren, Porsche, etc... but everyone's got to start somewhere. People should atleast respect Lexus for releasing this car in the first place. And for the record that is going to far saying that Toyotas are less reliable than VW, hahahahaha! Don't think so!

Clearly, you seem to know better than Lexus' market analysts. They'll be the ones smiling when they've sold all of their LF-As.

Lexus barely sells any normal cars in Europe, do you think an ugly, underpowered, overpriced Supra will change people's minds ? Lexus has absolutely no prestige in Europe. do you think their market specialists were asleep during the last 20 years ? they tried to sell them here and failed. what sane European who can buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Zonda or the new McLaren would chose a Toyota ? i bet the Zenvo ST1 will be more sought after than the LFA.

I don't know how you make a connection between this car and the Supra. They're two completely different classes of vehicles. They have nothing at all to do with each other. It's all supply and demand, and I'm sure any Lexus specialist has better knowledge of it than you do. If they weren't making any long run profit in Europe, they still wouldn't be there. Clearly, they supply enough cars demanded by consumers and just because you perceive them not to doesn't mean they don't. And how much do you know about how good of a supercar this is. It's received many favorable reviews and it's extremely ignorant to think that just because of the Lexus badge, nobody will be willing to shell out the high price to get their hands on its very limited supply.

I'm sorry but this car sounds very very nice....

this is getting more ridiculous. speculators live around the world. not just in north america. chances are those who can afford the price for a LF-A would have vacation homes around the world, and won't need to lease it from lexus USA.

Buy it in Europe and ship it over.

i'm sure if you do that, the warranty will expire and the dealers will refuse to service the cars, that's how all manufacturers do to keep Europeans from buying cheaper cars from the US.

anyone who buys or leases this insanely overpriced celica needs to get their heads checked.

This has nothing at all to do with any Celica.

It is such narrow-mindedness that made the GT-R by Nissan such a world class beater, keeping a 997 911 Turbo honest at almost a fraction of its price! Beware because Lexus takes such comments very seriously and acts accordingly. They are celebrating two decades this year hence the LF-A's existence.

But then who wants to pay $70k for a Nissan?

Overpriced as opposed to what?? I agree it's a pretty steep price, but it's all relative? Do you think it's overpriced in terms of Tiger Woods income, Bill Gates, LeBron James, etc... To a lot of people who are not enthusiasts Porsche, BMW's or any luxury cars are overpriced. You can pretty much buy a Honda Accord and do the same or a Mustang/Corvette and equal the performance of a supercar. Again overpriced is all relative.

Dude above, what the heck are you talking about if you go all "relative" in that sense you would be referring to the purchasing power to people i am sure whoever else talking about overpriced here refers to the fact that you can but like a ferrari (or something else...dun care) at the same price range relativity requires you to measure car-and-car not car-and-people stoooopid.

Speculators? Oh give me a frickin break! There is no hot market for a $400k Lexus that people are going to bid them up past that. They'll be lucky to sell the 100 or so they're shipping to the US. Porsche had trouble selling their Carrera GT for even MSRP in the states and that was during a much better economy. They ended up cutting their original build number in half.

the Carrera GT did well , the only reason they stopped selling them in the US sooner than expected was because the safety regulations changed.

fair points GTurbo and Ferrariguy. The beauty of the GT-R is that it is a Giant Killer for an M3 price. I'm all for that and think Nissan are awesome for creating this. It's overpriced compared to its competitors, which I'm not entirely sure which they are as it's more expensive than MB SLS/SL 63AMG Black, Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 48 Italia... Those cars have pedigree and proven performance. LFA builds on...the SC430?...

Chinaski, Carrera GT has been rated the best selling supercar in history! period! and your saying it had trouble selling in U.S? Get your facts right..

The dealers had to discount them to move them is my point, and they stopped production early. You think the Lexus would do better than Porsche selling a $400k car?

it may have that price due to its massive carbon fiber construction and it counts because if you will crash with it, chances are you might not even have a scratch.

McLaren are the leaders in carbon fiber technology, the MP4-12C's carbon fiber chassis is more advanced than LFA's chassis and the McLaren is still cheaper, lighter and more powerful.

Interesting, it takes them four extra cylinders to get Nissan GT-R like performance, and of course it'll be much more expensive. What a breakthrough for Toyota/Lexus, sweet!

Different strokes for different folks. I don't like turbo charged engines. I prefer N/A engines. Toyota is getting well over 500hp out of a small V10.

"Toyota is getting well over 500hp out of a small V10" - you mean Yamaha , cause they developed the engine. and it still sucks compared to the F458 engine. LFA : 4.8l, 560hp, 480NM torque, 1480kg F458 : 4.5l, 570hp, 540NM torque, 1380kg

Ok! If you want to split hairs...yes, Yamaha developed the V10 for Toyota. As far as the engine "sucking", that's subjective. The 458 Italia is a great car, but there will be some who prefer the LFA. Toyota will sell all 500 LFAs they produce. They can justify the price due to the capitol investment they made to produce the carbon fiber components. Also, many of the components, including engine and tranmission bespoke and will not be used on any other Toyota product. Will it be better the 458 Italia or MP4-12C? Who knows. It's all a matter of taste.

This may be another repeat of Toyota Formula 1... Big Fail! Toyota should go back to its roots of building cheap, reliable cars... (Trouble is they're no longer cheap NOR reliable anymore!)

When you're on TOP of the market its easy to make slight errors. To say that Toyotas are worse in reliability is blowing things out of proportion.

I can strongly confirm that it will struggle to sale in UE except in UK & Benelux: the rest of Europe is strongly attached to heritage/tradition for any car more expensive than the average car. Lexus Europe sold less than 55 000 cars in 2007!
