I don't mind if it is a diesel as long as the car got some torque. I took the current JCW for a steep mountain drive, the car struggled to climb the hill with lack of torque - I hope this version will answer my critics.

It is TRUE! The car was coughing or just ran out of power. It is actually 240Nm or 260Nm with powerboost. I couldn't believe the car struggled and it is not as torquey as I thought. Remember that the engine is just 1.6-liter.

The boost will come only after 2,500 rpm from its 5,800 rpm range. This car lack torque, I agree with Swifty (the comment below) with the lergatic power delivery. You will experience it when you are at such situation and I suggest you to go and do so.

The Diesel-Version will get pretty much lower torque at the wheels. Torque at wheels is unequal to torque at flywheel.

the most grunty version was Cooper S with supercharged engine in previous version, that supercharger develope a lot of bottom end power and was cool for steep hills!
Turbo is more top end power!
Well this diesel with some extra chiptunning could be easily the most power pulling Mini ever :)

By common sense supercharged should have more low-mid range torque than turbocharged, but turbocharged Mini has better low-mid range torque than supercharged R53 Mini, and supercharged R53 has more top end power and rev higher up.

Why shit???
My actuall Mini JCW needs the same amount of petrol like my V10 M-Engine.
I would say: Make it right 200 Diesel PS within 400NM of Torque that would be a great combination with the weight of the Mini!

The engine of the MINI Cooper S diesel will be a BMW engine 3 cylinder 1600cc turbo 163hp. The engine of future BMW 1 Series!

Interesting if true. Although it's not that easy to just swap around engines between FWD and RWD cars as they have key design differences, especially regarding clutch and gearbox positioning.

Not really. An engine is an engine. There may be a difference for engines placed behind the vehicle at the gearbox or clutch, but FWD or RWD does not change the engine design.
