Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift Unveiled at Guangzhou Auto Show

Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift Unveiled at Guangzhou Auto Show
Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift for China

Chinese market facelifted Tiguan styling will likely be the same for other markets too

China is quickly becoming the largest vehicle market in the world and VW has a huge presence there. It's no wonder that the German automaker has debuted a facelifted Tiguan model there.

Now, it could be that this is solely the Chinese market Tiguan and that a facelift of the compact SUV will look different in its European and North American iteration. But it is unlikely VW will change much, if anything, of the Tiguan's new styling from what we see here.

Styling cues appear to be taken from the current Golf and Scirocco models - maintaining a design consistency in VW's lineup. The Chinese press release does not provide many details so we will have to wait for a European facelift for the Tiguan to find out what new technological goodies VW has in store for it.

I really disliked that old VW design language, and this new one is really starting to grow on me... as a matter of fact, I used to see the Tiguan as a rather unfortunate design (and name), but that new nose is quite good.

slowly upgrowing mtv-generation? to topic: The new VW-design-philosophy is a good one. Nothing exiting but even conservative enouth for the prior target group. No question, VW will have success with it like before, like all their redesigned cars had. I whould prefer other brands but that's not the question! (Oh I want to write that again and again on WCF)...

The tiguan has always been a nice looking car, but it doesn't stick out, it just blends in with the crowd.

I'm not enjoying the rearlights. Looks somehow like a ten-year-old has designed them, just like the passat-cc

I think so. It's strange to see this rear light still because the Golf Mk6 is already better. Maybe VW thinks a SUV must be ugly. :)

In this point I'm totally with you. Rear lights of Passat CC and Tiguan (stupid name by the way) look awful. Well, current Passat and Golf Plus aren't any better. Mentioninng the Golf Plus: Why didn't they redesign this ugly dashboard too? Anyways, judging only the front of this Tiguan I'm convinced that next generation Touareg will rock!

Simplicity as a design language is hardest for car designers to achieve than the dynamic. This is spot-on. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Handsome face.
